When you received the documents from the Court what did you do with them, did you defend against the claim or have they got a Judgment by Default?

Sounds like a Judgement by Default because they didn't respond to the County Court claim pack.

So, a few options, either apply to get the Judgement set aside and defend properly. They would have to explain why they ignored the claim forms and submit a defence. This has to be done straight away or the Court won't grant it. Costs £255 or free if on benefits/ low income.

Apply for a variation order using N245 and offer a repayment plan, costs £50 or free if on benefits or low income.

Pay the whole amount within 28 days of the order and it gets removed from the register of judgements, might already to too late for that though.

Offer a repayment plan direct to the claimant.

Never a good idea to ignore Court docs, you can defend (or choose to settle out of court if you should wish), ignoring them just makes matters 10 times worse.
