yes probably so. It also explains the waves of cop brutality vids on youtube and other places in recent years.

I'm a bit confused... what action is taken against the officers? I understand that the force foots the compensation bill but the officers themselves?

Good question. The taxpayer is paying the 3000 pound bill and the actual lawbreakers are getting away with it.

Hi philpotts,

I think we are both on the same page. In the link below have a look at the response from Wilts Police question 3.

Yes the results of that F.O.I. clearly show the necessity when asking questions of officials to ask from more than one source.

Is as a result of a certain organisation training the police that Brian Gerrish warned us about years ago (ukcolumn) and their training “acting beyond leadership” and encouraging uneducated idiots to play a part at a level and the attraction is not salary but ego boost.

What are they trained to do? oh yes, to take control of situations.

Last year while aboard QE I took time out to go to a lecture by a retired chief of police woman. Her talk and slideshow about her life in the force was interesting. One thing stood out with the lecture. When she turned around and said 'I'm glad I left because all officers are now scared that their pensions are a target in disputes.' I nearly fell out of my seat when she said that. Would be great if CrimeBodge would do a video on that.

Hi Phillpots,
That ties in nicely with the response I got from a recent foi request regarding liability if they act outside of their duties.
The reply was: "The Chief Constable may have vicarious liability for the acts /omissions of the police officer depending on the nature of the act /omission.The police officer may also have personal liability for the act/omission"

Anyone wanting to check it out the FOI was to Wiltshire Police FOI 2018-369
Would be worth remembering when they try to abuse your rights .

Reality time Daveiron, the CC has liability anyway as they are vicariously liable and there is no maybe about it as the law is clear on this point, particularly if they are on duty or in uniform, it also follows even if they are not on duty as their own codes of conduct apply to them while on or off duty.

Look at legal precedents, a po-lice c*ntstable gets caught taking drugs while OFF duty and they cannot cover it up, what do they do? sack them for an activity breaching their codes of conduct.

Again, once they breach their codes of conduct they are not acting as a c*unstable and they are no different to anyone else and they are treated in exactly the same way.
