Its Christmas

Its been a busy few days, the local church has been prepared in readiness for the homeless and all of the frozen or bottled foods are already there, the showers have been installed and a trailer of logs have been delivered to power the showers and the old church internal fires, the chimneys have been swept and smoke bombed, and the volunteers have been rostered for the Christmas period.

Its been very noticable this year that since highlighting the plight of the homeless locally, that many more people have come onboard with both donations of time and items; many more people have given their time in more unusual ways and a team of ladies at a local factory have taken defective clothing and rectified the faults in their own time and given a huge clothing bank of new winter clothing which will be very welcome. One local auction house is having a charity auction and the proceeds are going to buying winter tents which are insulated, along with bed rolls and sleeping bags to be donated to the homeless.

Many more obscure and ingenious ways of raising both money and useful goods have been devised by many local individuals and businesses and unlike charities, we are welcoming more goods than money, but not just useless goods, give people the impetus and they come forth with the ideas and implement them, and they have.
