Callie Blackwell appeared on the ITV show to tell hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby about the pain of seeing her son struggle through his treatment for Langerhans Cell Sarcoma, a rare form of Leukemia when he was only 12 years old.

Young Deryn explained that at one point his condition had gotten so bad he had planned his funeral.

"It was going to be fancy dress and I'd chosen all of the costumes for people, it was going to be embarrassing for some," Deryn explained.

After his fourth bone marrow transplant failed, Callie took to looking for alternative treatments for her son who was experiencing severe pain, when she found cannabis.

She explained: "When his secondary cancer arrived, I turned to the internet and cannabis just kept popping up but I would dismiss it and dismiss it.

"The morphine wasn't working against his hands or stomach, so I asked for a cannabis based product and she said we can't because it hasn't been licensed for children," Callie continued.

The determined mum then set to sourcing the drug herself, telling Holly and Phil: "I thought what have I got to lose.

After being told that Deryn's white blood count was virtually non-existent before taking the cannabis-based drug, Callie and the doctors were surprised to see it return miraculously.

"The effects of it blew my mind. After five days we saw healthy fingers and the doctors started panicking because no one has ever engrafted after 75 days.

"The blood count was there, it was very small," Callie explained.

She then explained that after withdrawing the cannabis to test its effects, Callie announced that Deryn's blood count withdrew again.

Despite the success it has had for her son, Phillip explained that Callie could be prosecuted for possession of carrying a maximum sentence of five years.

Since leaving hospital, Deryn explains that he feels "completely heathy" and happy despite the four years of pain he experienced.

Dr Chris noted that Deryn's recovery is 1 in 100000
Deryn left school with seven GCSEs and has revealed that he wants to open a vegan diner.

Dr Chris tried his best to explain the miraculous recovery, saying: "It is fascinating and you cannot argue against that.

"There is a possibility that he went into spontaneous remission. Cannabis has been found to have anti-cancer effects on trials in labs with animals," he explained.

Little is known about the effects cannabis has on human cancer cases however, but Dr Chris explained that trails may have been carried out.

Viewers took to Twitter to praise the brave mum for her actions, with one tweeting: "Hearing more and more about Cannabis and it's healing properties, amazing story and what a brave lad. #ThisMorning."

Another added: "Been following this story from the beginning #ThisMorning. You would do anything for your babies. Love seeing him looking so well."

Funny how Schofield makes the corporate gesture and sides with them, mind you he is part of it.

A doctor explains it, in his opinion, and claims they haven't had any trials with children, and then tries the drflection technique of "spontaneous remission" and chooses NOT to understand what the family did and did'nt do to get a better understanding of what worked and how it worked.

Good luck to the family I say.

This is a good story, if it informs just one soul that there are alternatives, rather than the politically correct, pharmaceutical promoted poison Smile
