How to check my credit file without alerting debt collectors?
Hello all
I am 4 yrs 6 months without contact from anyone about my debts. I have moved several times and have no CCJ'S recorded at any previous address. I have no assets and I am close to state retirement age, is it safe to use an agency to check my credit file?
I believe the debts have been sold on and all are unsecured Bank and Credit Card debts.
Thanks in advance

If it were me I would let sleeping doges lie.
Using an agency to check my credit file is something i would consider if I be certain there would be no way of tracing back to me. However if the DC noticed and started questioning the credit agency i used then what?
Who knows what a few beers might reveal.
Others may have a different opinion.

Hi jim,
I am a little ahead of you ,being retired. I have never seen my credit file ,& to be honest I could not care less.
I am sure that whilst there are no ccj's on there .There will be defaults. It has never had any effect on my lifestyle whatsoever .
I agree with Ausk ,leave well alone .

Re: How to check my credit file without alerting debt collectors?
Advice taken I will keep a low profile. One more question if I may, I recently moved into an over 55's housing association apartment and have had to register for council tax and the voters list (I opted out of the open register).
I am guessing the DCA's have a better chance of finding me now?
Thank you so much for the replies

Bad news they have found me! Today I got a letter from Cabot Financial stating they have purchased my accounts (2 accounts in fact) totaling £7800.00 in arrears.
