Why are people so obsessed with credit ratings ? I have "defaulted" on 2 credit cards.
In that time I have traded as a self employed business & also as a limited company.Whatever may or may not be on my credit file has made no difference whatsoever. I have opened many accounts with suppliers both for business and personal, also opened new bank accounts. Never once have I been declined or has it ever been mentioned.
I should point out I have never attempted to look at my credit rating as I do not give a xxxx about it.

It exists to keep the sheep compliant nothing more.

Couldn't agree more Dave, on all points! And I too have managed with my own income / savings and NO loans / CCs etc for many years now. It CAN be done Smile

3 letter process - Page 4 Empty Reply after estoppel

Post by volgabulghar on Tue Aug 06, 2019 4:31 pm

Fair points. Thank you.

I was only concerned about credit rating as I would like to move one day and get a mortgage (I know that is another form of debt/death). Does anyone have experience with getting a mortgage after doing the 3 letters with a loan or credit card?

I hope to never need a CC or loan again.

I came home to find 2 letter from the original creditor:
One notice of default
One Consumer credit act with notice of total arrears

I had sent estoppel which they recieved 10 days ago with a bill (I know they won't pay but i thought i would send it)

Am I supposed to just ignore them as they are breaking the law? As suggested in goodf video https://youtu.be/EAJuSDUv-JE

Please instruct.

Best wishes

Why do some people say 3 letter process does not work with the original loan company?

Not sure, but when it comes to the OC and the three letters, that’s the easiest part. The OCs don’t really care as they make something still (albeit a little) from selling the alleged debt ie they always end up with something.

It’s the debt purchasers who have more at stake as they’re the ones who have actual BOUGHT the alleged debts and therefore try to recuperate funds from us. And hence why they badger you so much...

Ok. That's good to hear. There is always a little bit of fear in my head.

So, as I have received 2 letters today after serving estoppel.
1 - Consumer credit act and a statement f arrears and
2 - notice of default and late payment fee

What is the protocol for receiving a reply after estoppel as they have broken the law by demanding money after serving notice of estoppel... is the idea that if I ignore them long enough they then sell it on?
Thanks for your help

Didnt they throw back a ball by sending me 2 letters?
Or are you suggesting that all they can do with the ball is send more letters until they give up and sell on?

Just wait to see what happens next. My guess is they will pass it to a collection agency who will give up after 3 attempts and pass it back.

https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/web/mcol/welcome

?
