Hi

I have received a response from intrum after sending my first of the three letters. It goes along the lines of
The letter dated the 15th February does not specify the nature of your query in order to allow us to deal with it appropriately. It is one that has been sources from a "debt free" website. We often see customers relying on these types of letters in the hope it will assist their financial position. Such letter do not have any legal effect and we strongly recommend you see free professional advice from a reliable source.

Notwithstanding the above we would be happy to help you with your specific query or dispute. To assist you we have requested the relevant documentation for the original creditor and this will be sent to you once received. The account will remain on hold during this time and there is no need to chase us in the meantime.

They then quote stuff about their legal right etc what I want to ask is do they stand any chance of getting the original signed document from Tesco's who I was paying a £1.00 per month it was way back in 2008 when we fell into financial difficulty and should I just send letter two anyway or sit tight and wait and see what comes back

HI.
this `probably`applies.

When a debt has been outstanding for some time, with no payments being made or communication from the debtor, the debt can become what is known as 'statute barred.' ... The Limitation Act, 1980, places a time limit of six years on many outstanding unsecured debts, and 12 years on some mortgage arrears.
