They cannot force entry (unless you have previously let them in).
If they turn up ,never ever open the door and film everything.
Beware they will always go for your vehicle ,so keep it in a garage / on someone elses property,or park it where they cannot find it.
It is much different if its a business debt or a criminal warrant.

I would imagine if its on your own property it would not make any difference as its an item of value and once seized they would access to the vin no.

The law doesn't seem to distinguish, so maybe strictly it would be an offence to remove the number plate.  Possibly police might taken an interest because if they see a car without a number plate they're going to wonder what you're hiding.  If it can be parked so that the lack of number plate isn't visible from the public road then that would help.

No, its not illegal to remove a number plate on a vehicle on private property as any garage can remove them and often do for a variety of reasons, cloning being just one, as there was a spate of criminals going around parked vehicles on garage property and they were looking for a vehicle of the same type and colour and taking the registration numbers. They would buy a number plate kit for around £30 and make their own number plates up and fit them to dodgy vehicles.

This scam has evolved and now drug dealers use it, they scope out potential vehicles on garage forecourts and on workshop premises and they have got smarter as they only use vehicles of exactly the same model and range, if a model range is made from 2004 - 2009 they find one of these and fit dodgy plates from these model years and only fit the dodgy plates to vehicles of the same years.

Despite the so called legislation requiring all retailers to ask for a lot of information, and yes they do, there is no requirement for wholesalers to ask for anything before they supply a small number plate kit to anyone and these contain 10 number plates and a selection of letters and numbers, along with the template spacer and roller to make them up and roll them, to anyone.

I bought a large kit last year and no checks wee done, or questions asked.

There is a garage near me which sells higher end vehicles & no vehicle on their forecourt carries a number plate, they are replaced by their company name .
