Thames Water
Hi
Over the last 3 years Thames water have been sending bills but to the previous occupier - now they have my name and sending me bills and now have a DCA on it.
I did write back to say I am on benefits and cannot pay these large lump sums in one go but they have ignored this- should there be a process if you cannot pay all upfront ?
Any thoughts around this would be much appreciated on how to deal with them
Thank you for your help

You may want to take a look at Lionshare's posts, He seems to be having success with water.

Re: Thames Water
Hi Prometheus,
just today have had yet another from a utility Co, now "transcash" has gone the only main difference between the joint giro & what i have got is lack of the phrase "transcash", everything else in place with the name of Mr. LS so this must be the new "Creditor's" cheque. As this is an going situation there has been no peace so will let all know how this turns out - in about may be 6 months

Re: Thames Water
Also watch this yt channel, it is a different way of endorsing, covers more than water, but its all commerce - nothing else.
I have started to use this & it seems to work - I will always use the word "seems" as there has been no recourse (court action) against me or use of bully boy "bailiffs" either.

Re: Thames Water
Personally I would not tell them that ,it may have implications later.
However if its addressed to Mr or your strawman name you could return 'addressee not recognised'.
You should then get it addressed to the occupier.

Re: Thames Water
Thanks for this answer. Really helpful.
I think I will go for that.
So will the fact that my strawman bank account has been paying by direct debit linked to my strawman address and strawman details on the water company system not condemn my non legal fiction name. Will it not have implications later if I suddenly claim my strawman is no longer my real self?
Sorry it is hard to explain in text..hope you can help. Thanks

Re: Thames Water
It depends how far you and them are prepared take it.
One piece of advice though ,if you intend to stop paying ,keep the money you would have paid to
one side, then in the event it does not work out you have the money to pay if all else fails.

Re: Thames Water
If you own the property they are now issuing B133 notices - interest in placing a charge on a property, so becareful.volgabulghar wrote:Hi, does anyone know what would happen if i told thames water that i have moved out but i still live in the property, will they know it is not true or will they send bills to 'occupier'?
B133 notices are in a thread in the Utilities section.

Re: Thames Water
Thanks for your help. I will read about B133.
I do own the property so are you suggesting there is no way out - is this because they know my details (bank/strawman/email etc) already or is this the same for everyone? Do you recommend indorsement when a paper giro comes in the post instead of return to sender?
Thanks

Yes but becareful with what you do!volgabulghar wrote:Do you recommend indorsement when a paper giro comes in the post instead of return to sender?
Thanks
At every stage they contact you reply politley back & get your message accross what ever you are trying to say. I have done this & so far had 1x returned giro slip so sent a notorial protest, & sent a further I think 5 or 6 slips including the new commercial instrument (NONE returned).
I think the B133 is for those who dont pay for a protracted period of time. That's why I say contact at every step of the way. It will get to a point I think I can see where the communiques from me will stop I hope, will not divulge that for now as it is speculation based on mine & others' experience.

Re: Thames Water
Ok. Thanks for the help. I will update when I first hear from the water company and until then put what I would have spent in a different account until moving forward with the process.
I have seen the giro credit slips that they send out by downloading from my online account. So I imagine it will be the same that i receive in the post--- It says it is not payable at the post office counter. Where is it that i actually send it? Head office CEO?

Re: Thames Water
send it to Company HQ address whatever that is & send it to the Finance Officer, Finance Director or what ever title you think is appropriate for that position. I would not necassary send to CEO as that IMO is the wrong thing to do. I have even sometimes sent to accounts dept. It will get there if you address correctly & to the correct dept.
