Secret ballot - my arse

Post by handle on Thu Jun 08, 2017 11:17 pm

I went to the polling station with my electoral card.
The returning officer found my name on a page of SEQUENTIAL list of electoral card numbers with my address number also, under the title of my road name.
He then went to another list with the words CORRESPONDING NUMBERS written at the top with the name of the polling station, area etc.
This second list was a SEQUENTIAL list of voting slips that he peels off from a pad. Each slip has a number in the back and is sequentially numbered in the pad.
The returning officer then writes on the second list , next to the VOTING SLIP NUMBER, the ELECTORAL CARD NUMBER, so ANYONE WHO ACCESSES THE VOTING SLIPS CAN EASILY FIND OUT THE DETAILS OF THE VOTER ON EACH SLIP. A computer program could match this in seconds an entire list and anyone who voted kept on a database who they voted for.

I stated that if anyone gets those sheets people could get targeted for any reason. Eg For a ukip voter in a minority area.

So i asked what happens to those sheets. The returning officer said they are put in a sealed envelope and it says "not to be opened" on it. She said they are only opened if there is a query. Afterwards the sheets are destroyed, burned. I asked what was the guarantee that they are burned especially before the data could be collected. She could not answer.

I haven't voted for years and one of the reasons was because of what you have just said. There was a guy outside the polling station asking for the number on the polling card and when I got the voting slip it could of been matched to my polling card so anyone with access to my slip could of found who i was and who i voted for. I queried this with the lady and she agreed so i tore the slip up and binned it.
I don't go on the electoral role now because they share that information with credit reference agencies and I believe that violates my right to a private life. 2007 I think was the last time I was on the electoral role and all I get now is a letter now and again saying no one at this address is registered to vote or summat like that.

This is the type of backhanded way they devise to trap the uninitiated into believing that their vote is secret when actually, it isn't.

I would be asking WHY they want and need this information.

Its a flawed system anyway because once people are given their slip they could swap it for other people voting, then vote on the exchanged slip.

also, people could see on the list who has NOT voted and counterfeit slips with the number sequence.

THE SOLUTION AND ALSO TO MAINTAIN SECRET BALLOT INTEGRITY IS TO HAVE A SINGLE SAME WATERMARK ON EACH SLIP WITH NO IDENTIFYING NUMBER PER SLIP.

I cannot believe TPB havent thought of this.
I also cannot believe the voting public are so far asleep they dont realuse what is currently happening.

I cannot believe you are consenting to be governed by virtue of the fact your name is a registered elector.

Honey, with a decision as important as this many people have registered to vote so the country can come out of the EU, considering the fraud of the EU and the fact it is another mechanism to trap people under another unjust control, many people not normally voting have to make a personal decision to vote or not.

Assassin, what are you on about?
Surely you are aware only citizens get the opportunity to become a registered elector?

https://www.gov.uk/elections-in-the-uk/general-election
To vote in a General Election you must:

   be registered to vote
be 18 or over on the day of the election (‘polling day’)
be a British, Irish or qualifying Commonwealth citizen
be resident at an address in the UK (or a British citizen living abroad who has been registered to vote in the UK in the last 15 years)
not be legally excluded from voting
