Your Councils address

Post by daveiron on Fri Jul 07, 2017 8:17 pm

Yesterday my neighbor pointed out to me that the correspondence address for our local council is a PO box 100 miles away. This was confirmed today when i received a letter from them .

I have traced this address to a post office delivery office in Bulwell Nottingham.
As a local Council , i would imagine that the vast amount of correspondence comes from within their area ,so why is all mail sent 100 miles away.

I feel a Freedom of Information Request coming on.
Any others of you have the same thing?

Never come across that before as many others would possibly agree. In general terms what was it about? That may hold a key to an answer from others on the site.

Follow up from my first post,

FOO034917-10/7/17
NHDC mail

Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 please supply the following information.

1. For what reason is mail intended for NHDC sent to a Post Office delivery office over
100 miles from North Hertfordshire ?

Mail is sent to our contractor for scanning,so that it can be handled electronically.

2. What is the final destination of this mail and who or what is the final recipient ?

[b]Northgate in Nottingham

3.Once received by the final recipient, what then happens to the mail ?

It is scanned and returned to NHDC

4. What is the relationship between the final recipient and NHDC

Our contract is with Northgate

To claim Housing & CT benefits you must supply to the council a great deal of personal
information including 12 months of bank statements . Clearly all of this data is now shared
with a third party.

I now intend to follow this up with another FOI request .A letter withdrawing my consent
and also a SAR .

More to come.

DWP use various local PO boxes and it is then routed through other PO boxes after it has been opened, take them on and it goes to Annesley in Nottinghamshire to another contractor who opposes them and sends then to Ireland for the DWP to copy and paste, then add an electronic signature and return to the original sender.
