Wine Making Empty Wine Making

Post by assassin Tue Jul 25, 2017 2:41 am

Its wine making season again as the fruits are out and blooming nicely.

To date we have made over 200 gallons of rhubarb wine and champagne.

22 gallons of wild raspberry.

16 gallons of wild cherry.
28 gallons of cultivated cherry.

Strawberry.

It never ceases to amaze me that so many people forget to make wine from surplus crops and make the liquids to go with the solids as making wine at home is one of the easiest things you can do as it was once the preserve of the housewife to make wine for the family, it has been made for millenia in some form or another and when it is stored away and left to mature you can make batches and forget about it for many years and still drink it.

Home made wine is as pure a wine as you can get, no commercial processes dedicated to consistency and quality, no additives and preservatives, and only pure fruit from your plot and any choice of sugar you like. Its always a happy time in the village and now you know why.

You can grow your own produce, you can recycle things such as bottles from pubs and restaurants to stop them being smashed and disposed of, and it gives you an option if you get an abundance of fruits and vegetables as we have in the village with rhubarb you can collectively make lots of wines.

It's decided, I am inspired and going to 'try' (first time ever) to make some wild raspberry wine this year.

Any hints, tips, tricks or 'wine making for dummies' guide/process you have assassin would be greatly appreciated by me.

Copy and paste the text and edit it into Word, you can then print it off and make your own book.
