Have had a look on ico web site but have not found how to go about it, unless have missed it.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: SAR
Hi guys, so got reply from Essex & Suffolk water today, the letter they sent is dated 5th July and it says that they received my SAR today(meaning the 5/7/19), which is utter nonsense as I sent it on 11/6/19 and it was signed for on the 17/6/19 so they are lying already, The letter has an enclosed SAR form to complete, and say that it is not mandatory but helps them to locate the info I have requested which allows them to respond more promptly! Its taken over a month to get that from them! They are requiring copies of identification is this normal?? Or just a stalling tactic? As always any help or guidance will be gratefully received

Re: SAR
Stalling !
Inform them of when they received it ,Give them 7 days and tell them it then goes straight to the commissioner.

Re: SAR
here come the big guns sharpy,
from experience DO NOT WORRY, tell them to f'off by staing "the docs required do not exist. As water Co have been communicating me for XXXX years it will be established that the one who writes to water Co is the one that has always been communicated with"
i did this over ctax (still paying BTW so carry on do not stop that or else!). Still got that asked for, yes it is a scare tactic as they are data farming.
oh dont fill in their forms, you fill in thiers you could be establishing contract in some way becareful
still waiting for my reply......

Thank DI and Lionshare! One thing I am not is worried, you guys have helped me loose the fear!
So I will write to them again and send them a copy of the signed for letter they claim wasnt received until 5/7 and give them 7 days to furnish me with data or else!
If there are any specific or powerful words that could be used leme know lol
Be lucky and thanks a million guys

Re: SAR
none i can think of. please remember from experience the less you say - in terms of big or even powerful words (phrases yes), but more over the more clearer you state it in plain simple language the better. If you try somat cocky then it could be ignored or the wrong message given over. Please keep it short, to the point & above all simple, can't say it any clearer.Sharpysparky wrote:

Re: SAR
It's worth looking at some of the guidance for companies, particularly in regard to identity checks. They are specifically discouraged from asking for copies of documents etc to verify identity, because in doing so they are unnecessarily holding more of your private information. See ..Sharpysparky wrote:....They are requiring copies of identification is this normal?? Or just a stalling tactic? As always any help or guidance will be gratefully received

What should be specifically avoided?
Asking for a copy of ID document, passport or other official, government-issued document, such as a birth certificate, as a standard way of verifying the identity of data subjects should be definitely avoided.
