Re: Direct Debit Guarantee
To be honest I would say as little as possible about anything other than the payment itself.
Remember that the DD guarantee does not cover disputes about the actual service or debt, only disputes with the payment itself. For example payment taken without giving advance notice, or on the wrong date, or a duplicate payment, or payment taken which is different to the amount advised in advance. So make sure your claim sticks to something along those lines.

Re: Direct Debit Guarantee
Thanks for this. I have made enquiry with my bank on the DD guarantee, when an error in the liability they asked that I provide a more specific reason for the requiring the DD indemnity. They read a list of what constitute error for a claim. But tbh i couldnt pick any from their list as I dont want to say too much. They have this list of what they deem an error but they dont share this on their page or portal. I ask why? to prevent people from requesting this guarantee falsely. Not sure if I should go straight to bacs and give this reason: payment taken without giving advance notice instead. What other information do they request to process the claim? I am looking at claiming 5years period. Any advise is welcomed.

Re: Direct Debit Guarantee
If you are worried about the Statute of limitations then if it turns out to be fraudulant there is no limitation.
I state this because you seem you could be worried mentioning your past 5 years.

Re: Direct Debit Guarantee
You can probably expect some questions if you're trying to claim back five years' payments. For example they would probably want to understand why the error went undetected for five years. It's an unfortunate fact that a few people have been abusing the DD guarantee over the last few years by reclaiming payments for no good reason. One side effect is that people like you, making genuine claims, are now under greater scrutiny. That shouldn't be a problem, just make sure you give your reason clearly and stick to it, providing supporting evidence if necessary.
