Are Lowell getting desperate ?

Just putting this question out their to others on the forum

Has anyone started receiving strange letters from Lowell ? maybe regarding old accounts or accounts that should be closed or have been dealt with ?

i suddenly at the end of last year received a letter asking me how i will be paying my Orange account ???

now i haven't had an orange or EE account for over 2 years but did prior to changing provider have several accounts with EE and orange before that going back probably 8 or 9 years all paid up and then taking out new contracts ?

I had no idea what this account was so i replied asking them what this letter was all about.

In the meantime i had a look through my own archives. I did in fact find a bundle with the account reference that had been filed away, so removed the layer of dust and had a look though it.

Lowell were chasing me for this account in 2014 FFS, i wrote to them back in 2014 asking for proof NON was EVER provided, over a period of 5 years they sent agent after agent after me NON of whom could ever validate what they were claiming. In 2018 i even had a solicitor send me a letter before claim i asked them also for proof and all i got back was 1 single piece of A4 paper !

the solicitor threatened court so i replied ok bring it on, they didn't and sent the file back to Lowell.

silence from 2018 until now !? according to Lowell this account ( whosever it was ) was closed in 2013 !! no payments apparently made after that ?

so this 'debt' is almost 11 years old !!! and they are asking me to pay it FFS

they have a 3 page letter from me on its way to them and i am looking at my options of issuing a claim against them for harassment !

On top of this Joke i have received another letter from Lowell ( late February ) totally different alleged debt to above

they start by saying  'we refer to previous communications in this matter'

well i am not aware that there are any? certainly not that i have received anyway.

their next line reads ( and i kid you not )

' after extensive investigations we can advise that we are unable to locate a CCJ entered in relation to this account by Lowell'

oh really ? well maybe there isn't one ??

they then go on to say they have been in touch with the OC to get more information but due to the age of the account they can't get any info.

AND THIS BIT IS HILARIOUS

asking if i have any further information regarding court action taken or if i believe that a CCJ was enforced with a Charging order  please provide them with full details to investigate further.

so they have found an account that they have linked to me and have no idea what has happened so they are asking me to let them know if lowell have a CCJ or charging order against my property

would love to here others opinions on this

Unfortunately now i have moved i dont keep notes for future reference like i did before.
I know this is nothing more than an inconvenience to you ,but myself i would use the opportunity to test out a few things.
Maybe things like the incomplete DoAs as shown here; https://sites.google.com/view/deed-of-assignment-access/home

Jacobs sent me a letter about an unpaid gas bill from a gas firm that i havent had a contract with in over 10 years , and when i did the amount alleged is 10x what i left allegedly owing . I havent inquired about it further so i am not sure if this is the case or some other mistake.

Litrally had s letter from Over confident Overdales with the usual accompanying letter printed in the same run for an alleged stating no contact...
Believe me they've had plenty ...
I thought they exact same when I opened it ..
They're probably hoping a few 100'000 folk have moved so they can win in default ..

had a look at the link which is good but in the two 'cases' i have mentioned above it isnt needed. The first one is statute barred by about 5 years and having asked for proof of debt they have provided precisely 0, zero documents , nothing whatsoever over a period of 9 years ! , they harassed me for 4 years but provided NOTHING in the way of evidence. they instructed 3 agents, then a 4th agent which was the same as one of the first 3 and then a solicitor to threaten court action, the Solicitor sent the only evidence lowell had which was a single sheet of A4 paper with some numbers listed on it !! i thought it had gone away since their solicitor abandoned the case almost 6 years ago ! Now they are back again harassing me on a debt which is 11 years old! ( according to their own records )

the 2nd one is just ????? they have written to me regarding an account which they believe is mine, they have no evidence whatsoever ( it says as much in their letter ) they then go on to state that they have asked the OC for information but the OC have no record of it as the account is too old !!! finally they state that they don't know if they have obtained a CCJ for this account or if they might have a charging order against my property .

to end the letter they then ask me if i will let them know if they have a CCJ or charging order as they have no idea !!! it smacks of desperation on both to me.

it won't be long before Lowell start sending letters to everybody

In another post somewhere I posted that a freind equaintance in reality .. I don't do freinds ..
I hadn't seen for quite some time told me she worked for a DCA in Leeds ..
They where laying people off because folk weren't going on holiday and where paying their debt off with furlow .
She had just remortgage hence was worried ..
I guess this has mounted up to no good amount of fresh debt to buy . .

Apologies for the late reply Waylander62. I haven’t, no. But no doubt some of it is down to the usual admin issues / confusion that DPs often demonstrate!

i may as well update this thread,

in case 1 Lowell have apologised and stated the balance is £0.00, however they still decided to add " although the debt still exists " they have decided to close the a/c and i will not hear from them again.

have decided to reply to this as there are other anomalies i need to address in their letter.

but i think it is safe to say this is going nowhere from here.

In case 2, i did send them a 1 page reply, have since had a reply back from lowell, very short and sweet.

para 1: apologising
para 2 : trying to explain their ridiculous questions
para 3 : this account has been paid in full and closed their will be no further communication regarding this account.

so all done and dusted.

still smacks of desperation to me it may be they are on a clear out drive and trying to find ancient accounts they may be able to con people into paying ???

Wild guess, maybe they're closing their books on anything older than xx years, but someone couldn't resist having one last pop at some. Even though it sounds like both are statute barred.

Asking you to send details of CCJ and charging order that they think they might have obtained. Did they ask you to send the keys as well?

i know, i honestly couldn't believe the content of their letter ! i am tempted to frame it and keep it close by give myself a laugh when i need one .
