Its official, Uber have had their license revoked for London, so have TfL done a good or bad thing?

Uber are backed by several large multinationals and pay no tax in the UK, their business plan is simply to undercut every other firm on price to; 1) get as many customers as possible with low prices and indoctrinate them to Uber with APPS; 2) to take a financial loss and live with that financial loss until they have shut down their rivals and then hike up their prices as they will effectively have the taxi market sewn up in London and be able to charge what they like.

Many Uber drivers are glad they have been shut down because many claim they cannot make a living with Uber work and either have to; 1) work for themselves on their own jobs alongside Uber work or: 2) work for another company alongside Uber work so they can simply stay afloat and afford to live; and this is interesting as considerable numbers of drivers are claiming they are working 12-16 hours for Uber to even make a living from taxi work, and this is unsafe. The drivers are all self employed and get no holiday or sick pay and many drivers are being forced to work when tired or even ill, just to put food on the table, and many claim this is both unsafe for passengers and other road users, and working so many hours has a detrimental affect on their health which has its own safety issues.

For many years a large number of taxis have been run by various ethnic minorities and many people in Nottingham for example often make a comment of "have you ever seen a taxi driver with a white face" which is interesting as many of these drivers have brothers and fathers who also run the same taxi, who are not licensed taxi drivers, meaning the same vehicle being driven by at least one other unlicensed taxi driver and this is a concern.

Is there another motive here? maybe a financial or political motive, what do you think.

I dont care if they avoid tax. So do I.

I dont care about their business plan. I can find another way in the future.

I do care that they are forced out by a revoked licence because of back-handers.

I dont care if the drivers are hard done by in pay or hours! Its their choice.

I dont care that non whites drive them. Or use 'hot bunk' cars.

I have never used uber. Or a black cab paid by me ( I use black cabs most days, paid for )

I'm all for free enterprise, but with Uber I think it's not free enterprise but they are exploiting people. They have just locked a Gypsy family up for modern day slavery and I see Uber as much the same thing. If licencing is needed for taxi's then it should be needed for Uber or get rid of licencing altogether and have a free for all.
Tesco's tried to corner the supermarket trade and nearly did it until they started to cream the wages from off the workers. Unhappy workers are far less productive and you can only hit them with a big stick for a certain amount of time before they revolt and then they will end up losing it all.

The Gypsies didn't force the guys to work they could of walked away at anytime they wanted, they wasn't tied up in the caravans. It was the guys own circumstances that stopped them walking away. Tesco did the same thing with the Eastern Europeans. Ask yourself one thing if you had the choice not to go to work would you still turn up and stack shelves for Poundland. If the answer is no then all you are is a paid slave the same as the what the Gysies used.

I think uber and ANY idea of modern day slavery are two sepperate things!

I think it's exactly the same. The guys who work for Uber have the choice whether to work or not but have to because of there circumstances. The difference between Uber and the gypsies is the people who stand to make a fortune out of Uber slaves  are rich elitists, where as the others are illiterate Gypsies, both are exploiting people but one can do it lawfully. The results for the public are the same, a substandard service for cheap.

i believe in local buisness not multinationals.

One also has to take into account the ALL Digital 5G world,
that is being bought in.
ALL transactions cashless and Traceable.
( the banks or Govt could cut you off any time they didnt like 1 of your facebook posts )

Uber and it's apps and low pay are a big part of this.

I would imagine that the claims of poverty ar a little exagerrated, but
like workfare, it may not be a free choice.

Nope. Not the same AT ALL.

ANYONE working for peanuts for another can step away.

OTHERS held to work for existence and/or because they arrived unlawfully is another matter. And even in those cases they have a choice. Lack of education might compel one to work on in both cases, but in the case of uber, its just another choice of a job, not slavery.
