EDF energy Empty EDF energy

Post by frankiebabes Wed Dec 18, 2019 1:19 pm

i have been put into contract with EDF energy without my consent, they state that i have phoned them and agreed a contract, when i make a sra's request they say i haven't phoned them, on the copy of a contract they sent to me after i requested it, it says in the signature window, agreed by phone..they now agree that i didn't phone them to agree a contract they say it was a generic agreement...they have offered me £25 in compensation, i told them that i wanted a letter stating that i was not and never had been in contract with them... and a better offer in compensation. they are sending me bills for gas and threatening to replace my meter with a prepayment meter...i have removed thier implied rights of access,..any advice on what to do next would be appreciated

I too have just been put into a 'contract' with EDF with my previous supplier going bust.
Within 1 month I have switched to Bulb who's prices are very low in comparision .

I expect like me you were switched to EDF by the regulator ,which I suspect will have been in your t&c's.
EDF should only be charging you the same as your previous supplier for a period of time.If you had switched asap you would have been no worse off, indeed you may have found somewhere cheaper. Of course its up to you ,but is
it worth the hassel ?

From my experience, when my supplier went bust, we were notified in advance that it was going to happen, initially from the existing supplier and then from the new appointed supplier.  It was about a month after that before the account actually switched.

So this might be one of these erroneous transfers as the call it. Is your existing supplier still in business, what do they say about the matter?

I was also with solarplicity ,they sold most of the accounts to TOTO energy ,who in turn went bust about 3 months later
I, like flying fish received many emails from all concerned. I guess you must be one who slipped through the net.

What actually happens is that the regulator is supposed to switch you to maintain your supplies and is clearly stated (hidden away) in the small print terms and conditions, and it usually states that they will endeavour to get you with someone with similar tariffs, note the word endeavour as it is a play on words.

They never definitively state that they will get you into a contract with the same tariffs and this is where they get you.

Yes ,I was informed by EDF that I would not pay more for at least 6 months. They also asked that if I
wished to switch to another supplier to please wait for a month so that everything is all entered on their
system. This I did and since that time Bulb who I am now switching to have had difficulty in going ahead
due to EDF ( its now set for the 18th) I suppose EDF think if they make things awkward people will not
bother to change. Strange that they had no problem in diverting my DD payment within a couple of days
from Toto going bust.
