Coronavirus: Brits face £1,000 fines or being detained if they refuse self-isolation.

https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/coronavirus/coronavirus-brits-face-%c2%a31000-fines-or-being-detained-if-they-refuse-self-isolation/ar-BB11dNYY?li=BBoPWjQ&ocid=mailsignout

Police are set to be granted emergency powers if members of the public refuse self-isolation, it emerged on Sunday night.
Those who flout the rules could be slapped with a £1,000 fine - or be detained.

It comes as over-70s are set to be made to go into self-isolation for four months even if they are not ill.

Police in England and Wales will be given emergency powers so they can use "reasonable force" to detain people who may infect others, The Telegraph reports.

Under the Health Protection (Coronavirus) Regulation 2020, which have been published on the government's website, people who are suspected of having the disease can be held for 14 days.

If they leave the secure location they are taken to, they can be moved to custody before being returned to the original place of quarantine.
A £1,000 fine will greet those who don't comply, with prison waiting for those who do not pay.

Those suspected of being infected must consent to have their throat and nose swapped, or to give a blood sample.

It is expected that the measures will be announced at some point over the next week, after over-70s were told they would have to self-isolate at some point.

They will be rolled out as the number of confirmed coronavirus cases and the death toll continue to rise in the UK.

On Sunday afternoon it was announced that the coronavirus death toll in the UK has reached 35 - and three of these victims were being treated at the same NHS Trust.

More patients died of the virus at Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust in Greater Manchester and Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust across Surrey and parts of south London. Now three people have died of Covid-19 at each of these groups.

The total death toll in the country has increased more than 50% in the last 24 hours.

Twenty-two other NHS Trusts have recorded at least one death each since the start of the month. Many of these patients were elderly, and had underlying health conditions.

Other drastic action potentially being considered by the authorities in a bid to control the outbreak included the early release of prisoners.

On Sunday, Prison Officers Association general secretary Steve Gillan described the coronavirus situation in prisons as “unprecedented” for both prisoners and staff.

When asked if releasing some prisoners was in the contingency plan, Mr Gillan said: “Not as yet, but previous governments have done what was called an executive release of prisoners, that may come in the future to free up spaces in prisons.”

He explained this could be in the form of temporary release or the release of prisoners towards the end of their sentences.

“The secretary of state has the powers to look at low-risk category prisoners and just release them as that executive release,” he added.

Like all "panics" a scapegoat must be created so lets pick on the pensioners.
Next they'll be put into camps "for their own safety".

Lets call it what it really is: arbitrary detention and that is martial law without actually calling it that … Well I guess we can still be keyboard warriors cant we … .

Hmm no need to put words on my post for me Lopsum, I am not stupid enough to be goaded into posting something that will get me arrested …. and get over your paranoia I am not here agitating folks, which I am sure is what you are really implying.

What people do is their choice, but doing something direct is better than simply talking about it, is I think a fair thing for me to say. Not that I give a monkeys if you agree, tbh.

just what makes you think that only two of you here take direct action (yes I did read your post before you deleted some of it).
Many here have been doing this for some years & I frankly find it insulting that you imply
we are only keyboard warriors.

Post by Libelresponse Wed Mar 18, 2020 8:06 am

Ill make this my last post and will definitely be moving on, lets see if you guys are capable of taking a bit of criticism without acting like a pack of play ground bullies shall we ?

My Comment was dark sarcasm meant generally as it was in response to jss 64 and the likely lock down approaching...I repeat - only the admin got upset ...interesting you obviously feel insecure about it, regardless of whether it was intended for any one in particular.

That is self evident as is your hostility towards any one new who comes here and posts anything that is independent of your closed shop clique think, again evident by my post requesting consent by admin to post DHSC documents,, duly blanked and ignored.

But how quick you little munchkins are to come and have a pop when your ready... I was warned by a few former members about the attitude here, they was right I have to say.

Lopsum it shows who you really are doesn't it that comment, so you have a good laugh at folks who come here and add content do you, ? Hmm my posts are no joke, children being stolen is worth bring attention to ……  what a nasty piece of work you are.

Mr Blue you are a liar and have just proven your statements are not credible or trustworthy..end of

Only Waylander and FF are actually helping folks with debt issues here ...everything else is reposts and chatter

Feel fee to delete my account or whatever I have no intention of being a part of this site again

Egos will be the downfall of us all, it is from egomaniacs that the world is where it is. They have had the money and time to refine it, we don't have that luxury... Opinions, ideas, thinkers and doers are what the future (this place?) is all about, hopefully.
Frustrating times (have been for years really) and things will be said that on reflection shouldn't be or are regretted afterwards...always human.

imo it did not sound like Libelresponse was having a dig by saying only keyboard warriors on here, i see it easily misinterpreted. As for anything else on the post, he removed it. We all say things we don't mean, at least behind a keyboard it can be deleted! Some things should be challenged always with due respect, easy to lose and hard to regain.

lopsum, i'd like to say, i don't think you know how your last comments come across.
Now i could have gone off on one recently...what would that gain!

We all have a different role to play and each should be respected as long as honest contribution is attempted.
Right now i think the more people that are free-thinking the better...feels to me like all the sh*t is coming to ahead and unless we find some way of turning it around -FAST- we're pretty f*cked!

Don’t worry itheman, we / this site has been going for many, many years and w/o issue. It’s just that you get the odd visitor (probability dictates it after all) who, for whatever reason, gets their wires crossed or goes on an unnecessary rant or, literally, is looking to purely create confusion or disruption.

We shall continue to keep calm (unlike some shoppers) Wink

And the vast majority of visitors here will soon work out the ‘bad beans’ from the rest. So let’s give them general public some credit for that Smile

First and foremost, we are here to help those in dire need as best as we can as a voluntary service!

Mrblue i am worried, very worried as the days go by things are becoming quite surreal (what to believe?) and what will be next...as daveiron (and others agree, along with me) that this corona is a test to push the boundaries, then what? Also if this does not stop soon then we will have anarchy, phase one to cause fear and distraction amongst a nation (i hope i am wrong). At least one state in the US say their police will basically turn a blind eye to minor offences inc theft!!

Best way to cure is to prevent, so how do we gain our divine rights? then we can claim our land, stop 5G and the court system from raping us!

I’m sorry to hear you are worried.

My response was specifically in relation to your comments about Libelresponse and related.

(Also had the ‘pleasure’ of being called a liar by Libelresponse. I have no idea why and to be honest I do not intend to waste anymore energy wondering why - it’s all very pathetic as far as I am concerned. As you say, there are greater issues...)

itheman, if I can respond to your post.

There are two types of people on this site and there are the genuine posters wanting help and those posting legitimate questions and legitimate opinions.

There are the trolls who come to the site to cause disruption and to try the divide and conquer tactics among the regular posters. I noticed I was never mentioned or had my question responded to, so basically when a legitimate question is asked, why is it ignored.
As Admin we have a duty to try to protect site members who need help and post genuine questions, people such as yourself, but we are regularly inundated with trolls and spammers and as admin we have to identify them and weed them out as sites such as this often attract those wanting to suppress the information we, and other site members provide, and we have some very good people looking into them and identify them before they disrupt the site and we have some clear tactics and identifiers to weed them out.

As you correctly said "We all have a different role to play and each should be respected as long as honest contribution is attempted" and attacking other members is not contributing or respecting other members, particularly the admin who give a lot of time working behind the scenes to keep this site as safe as possible, and remember we have people of all ages on the site which includes minors, it is for this reason most admin may often appear to stick together.

It may interest you to know that you were closely looked at, not for anything you said or did, but for an external factor which related indirectly to you and several other posters, and when we all investigated we found this factor and none of you even knew about it and were not found to be doing something wrong; this was indeed another group of people trying to cause mayhem and blaming others, so yes we have to deal with all this and it does take up a lot of our time, we even have some attemps to post under different pseudonyms and it all has to be dealt with.

Coronavirus: Brits face £1,000 fines or being detained if they refuse self-isolation Empty Re: Coronavirus: Brits face £1,000 fines or being detained if they refuse self-isolation

thank's assassin, makes perfect sense and you/guys have validity in your diligence...top work and BIG thanks.
Being English (we tend to stick up for the under-dogs) and felling a little persecuted (little strong perhaps) on some occasions it is easy to jump to conclusions...and we all know what assumptions are.

i would be very interested to know more of "you were closely looked at", it will aid in my awareness and help me to spot things too (at the least this will save our time over such matters) if you (or another admin) would PM me please. And so, this is what Lopsum alluded too, fair enough...i get it and no problem, i have always maintained my integrity and spoken the truth to the best of my ability at that time.

Once things are understood they become clear and talking is essential, cheers again
