More Power

Its been a good day today as the third water turbine has been installed and monitoring the output shows we are actually producing 150 amps of power at 230 volts, and as it is water powered, it produces this 24/7/365 and is actually enough to sustain the village if the power outages they are predicting, occur; but it allows 10 houses to each receive around 2300 watts of power which is enough to keep fridge freezers, gas boilers, and lighting running in multiple homes. This means most of the village will have basic power if the grid is lost and it will be sufficient for most people to maintain a reasonable life even if it means TV's are switched off (no loss there then) and most other items such as computers and other non essential items will have to go.

Our electrical guru at work has designed and built regulation devices which connect to a fusebox/consumer unit and it limits the power input to 10 amps to maintain basic devices within the home, and 5 houses are already connected to it along with myself, and it automatically restores some sort of power after 3 minutes of the electrical grid going down as cabling has been run today to connect them and in the event of a grid failure it trips the consumer unit and the new box only supplies critical circuits such as a gas boiler, fridge, and lighting.

All of the village has LED lighting and this has dramatically reduced electricity consumption and allows adequate levels of lighting for most homes within the limited supply as long as they only run their freezers and gas boilers, but what about gas? our gas engineer has connected a secondary supply to each boiler so when it is switched over it shuts off the mains gas and allows HHO to be used in bottled form and we have been filling bottles and storing them for this kind of eventuality so we have gas and electricity.

All but one of the village has a log burner and this gives us a secondary form of heat as we have plentiful supplies of seasoned wood and everyone has their stash full to capacity so no problems with heat, light, and food storage capabilities along with another form of cooking; during this epidemic many villagers have been making their own bread as we have 25Kg sacks of flower and breadmaking circles which have used log burners to cook them along with other things.Our LED streetlights are now all PIR activated and have their own battery packs so they only turn on necessary street lights and battery capacity is sufficient to power them continually for 32 days continually before running flat, and yes we have tested them.

We are looking to connect 5 more houses to our own electricity grid over the next couple of days so most of the village will have power and contingenct plans are already in place for people to move food from their freezers to a neighbours freezer to limit the loads they put on this limited supply.
