HMRC tax debt & tax credits overpayment
Dear dudes who do dissolve and dispel debt,
alchemists and word smiths, thank you for being here.
I've got two separate debts. The self employed amount is personal to me. The tax credit debt is in both my husbands name and mine.
1) can I write to these "authorised suppliers" as they describe themselves on behalf of my husband?
2) does 'authorised supplier' mean debt collector employed by HMRC, or did LCS buy this debt?
3) are there any special tips for dealing with this?
full power to all those making moves to stand in their power.
thank you x

Re: HMRC tax debt & tax credits overpayment
I would be interested to see what response you get from any members on here. I have had similar in the past and chose to ignore their letters, and heard nothing more, and just yesterday I received a letter from HMRC asking for payment of alleged overpayments of TC's in 2011 and 2014! Government now so desperate to raise cash to balance their convid spending spree and illegal immigrant fiasco with brittania hovels (and yes that was a deliberate misspelling!), they now resort to hounding citizens for mistakes made so long ago! Beggars belief

Re: HMRC tax debt & tax credits overpayment
So, by HMRC writing to, me can I presume they may be breaking some kind of law?
3 years ago I got screwed over by a City Council who robbed my state pension of over £500 in 2 chunks (ignored protests) for an alleged overpayment of Housing Benefit from 2010. Was told at the time that there is no limit to how far they can go back. F in parasites! So sick of what has happened to our once great nation TBH!

Dear Assassin ,
My alleged debt started in 2014 for the sum of £1,300 which I just did not have at the time and I stopped seeking work that was not cash based because I did not need this stress . The bill now is for £7, 007 .00 . Which is an accumulation of late payments fines and estimate earnings for 2015 of which £1,800 was tax because I did not inform them that I was not self employed .
It has been 7 years since they demanded £1,300 as of April 2021 . Hopefully that is why they passed my alleged debt to BPO Collections .
I do not Know if it follows that the fines attached on an annual basis since then are also void as the initial non payment is non collectable after 7 years . I mean can this fine for non payment of a non collectable alleged debt just keep on tilling up until the day I die . Just asking like .
Diolch / Thank you

No they cannot fine you and they never fine people, thesee are penalty charge notices and nothing more and require your consent.
If you write to them then you are consenting to their actions, their late payment charges are also consensual.
They try to portray them as criminal to scare you, if it was a criminal offence they would have been round with the po-lice and not engaged a DCA.

Check the phone number on the HMRC letter it comes up predominantly as a scam ..
I have just helped a freind find the exact same out after being stressed out for weeks ..
The letter was very much like yours ..

Please check phone number on any HMRC letter there is a lot of scam letters at the moment all very similar ,
03002003805 flags as a scam phone number ,
If you also google scam HMRC letter in "images" there are lots ,
I have noticed on all these letters a good indicator seems to be on the left side up the edge it states "page 1 of 4 " yet you only receive 1 page ,
Quite obviously a bad fake yet it's HMRC so we believe it.
They all start with Dear Sir/Madam also , they should start with your name .

If you create an account you can log into HMRC and see whether they do or do not show a balance.
