Anyone know a notary sympathetic with what we do?
Hi
Per the title, I'm reaching out to ask if anyone knows a notary, in the North West U.K, who can witness and seal my affidavit against a debt collection agency.
Cheers in advance.

Hey Oliver
Thanks for the tip.
As my post was made a couple of weeks ago, and you were the first to reply, I was growing impatient with what to do.
The basis for my action is from a book called Defusing the Debt Bomb, from which I tailored the templates to my situation.
It mentions having a notary witness the affidavit. But growing impatient I contacted a few near me. I didn't explain what I was doing, only that I needed an affidavit witnessed and sealed.
They all said they only deal with matters to do with international affairs, and any standard solicitor can witness and seal my affidavit.
That being so I'm doubting the accuracy of the contents of that book.
Can I ask, did Nigel Pugh say a similar thing, about handling international affairs only, to you?

Re: Anyone know a notary sympathetic with what we do?
Some solicitors can do this and many practises are employing their own in house solicitor, this has issues, a notary public is used under ecclesiastical law which covers all jurisdictions covered by statutory law and common law; solicitors do not as they only act under the inferior statutory law and your document/affidavit couldn't be used under common law which is the point of it.
Its much like buying the nicest looking car in the showroom only to find it does 30 MPH top speed, it doesn't fulfil its purpose and neither does a solicitor sealed document as they can only be used in statutory law and invalid under common law and their purpose is only to be used under common law which is superior law.

Hi Assassin
Thank you for that clear explanation.
I guess I need to find a notary. Having just looked up Nigel Pugh I found he's based near the south coast, which is too far for me to travel.
I don't suppose you could recommend one somewhere in the north west? Or will any notary do, once I explain I need my affidavit witnessed under common law?

It would be worth asking him how it works as he says ..s_wan28 wrote:I guess I need to find a notary. Having just looked up Nigel Pugh I found he's based near the south coast, which is too far for me to travel.

The local notary i contacted has gone radio silent on me.
I shall get in touch with Nigel and see if he can witness online.
Thanks, flyingfish.

Re: Anyone know a notary sympathetic with what we do?
How can a notary work via a video link? they can't because they have to have and see the witnesses signing the document and you sign the document and once witnessed they also have to put their seal onto it and sign the seal. They have a lawful duty to ascertain that the witnesses are genuine and not related to the affiant and check their identity, so how can they do this and seal the document online.
This is frought with issues, first they can challenge the witnessed section by claiming the notary didn't correctly verify their identity, secondly they cannot put a legitimate seal on the document without it being present so this can be challenged, and as you issue the original sealed document (not a copy) on the defendant it is not a sealed document.
