"It's not a legal requirement to wear sunglasses in bright conditions, but you could still be considered by police to be "driving without due care and attention" due to Rule 237 of the Highway Code. The "Hot Weather" section of this law states that drivers need to slow down or pull over if they are "dazzled by bright sunlight" - which would indicate that drivers should wear glasses on a sunny day.
This offence would lead to an on the spot fine of £100 and three points on your licence. Drivers who challenge this and lose could see this increased to £5,000 depending on the severity."

Don't believe everything in the mail stream media!

What a load of rubbish, do they even read what they write?  They've written ..
"The "Hot Weather" section of this law states that drivers need to slow down or pull over if they are "dazzled by bright sunlight"
How many people agree that "slow down or pull over" means "wear sunglasses".

Apart from thinking that Highway Code rules are laws, they don't have appeared to have read it anyway.  Rule 237 does not say what they are claiming.

This is another example of why I urge people to read the actual source (in this case the Highway Code) and not blindly believe interpretation from Youtube/Facebook/MSN etc.

yes it's not legal, as stated in article - the point of posting this was to highlight the possibility of land pirates (police) exploiting it in order to collect revenue from the gullible

Actually the media are churning out large numbers of these stories and they are all doing the rounds, one was you could be fined for wearing the wrong clothes, not wearing shoes, and wearing baggy skirts.

With FF on this one as people need to read the legislation and not someone scaremongering by giving their biased interpretation of it and making people actually believe it is a fine they have to pay and not see it as an offer to contract and it is merely perpetuating the fear.
