Council Tax (getting answers) Empty Council Tax (getting answers)

As Council Tax is now getting a lot of attention on many sites, and new bills will be arriving shortly ,is it time we done some digging of our own in addition to work being carried out by others ?

I have made a start with a few suggestions for Court & Council, which can be in the form of FOI requests or letters or notices.
I am now unable to do these myself as i'm 10500 miles away ,so hopefully many members will participate .
Please add anything you think should be asked & maybe we can all draw something up. I have made a small start below

COUNCIL
1.As you claim there is a liability order against me, are you able to supply a certified copy of said liability order containing my name.
2. If said liability order only contains a signature but carries no name of whoever granted said order
please supply evidence that such order has validity .
3. Please supply evidence that whoever signed said order can act in an anonymous manner.

COURT

1 Does xxxxx court hold a record of all liability orders granted for council tax ?( add the council district)
2. If xxxx court does not hold said records ,please confirm where these records are held.
3 As Council tax liability orders do not carry the name of whoever granted said order, please provide the legislation which states a Judge, Magistrate or any court officer can can grant orders anonymously.
4 Please explain why when asked about council tax liability orders, court staff reply “ it has nothing to do with us ,you need to contact the council” .

Council Tax (getting answers) Empty Re: Council Tax (getting answers)

Post by waylander62 Thu Feb 08, 2024 4:14 pm

Council tax is always going to be a difficult one because they are all in it together Govt., councils and the courts i have not done much with CT for several years now but it is something i really want to get to the bottom of.

in respect of your post i will relay my experience of doing this:
COUNCIL
1. I went to the offices and pretty much demanded one after much running around and disappearing into the back offices they printed me one off, i have a copy of it filed away somewhere not really a genuine court document in my opinion but my opinion meant nor means anything when they all work together.
2. I never tried this approach but there was a signature on the LO but no name and it was almost impossible to tell who had signed it.
3. Never went this route so a question worth asking

COURT
1. No i dont think they do i requested a copy from the court and all they would say is you will have to ring the council rinse and repeat rinse and repeat.
2. I tried that one and they told me a record would be held at x magistrates court ( 25 miles away ) so i contacted them and they thought i was joking, they had no clue what i was talking about and had no record.
3. good one i didn't go this route
4. i asked but got absolutely nowhere.

this is probably 6/7 years ago now but i WILL have my day i am determined.

If i recall correctly they used to use a signature but it was from a person who no longer held a position. (100% fraud)

if yours was signed then thats one thing to find out about and potentially a good bit of ammo.

Council Tax (getting answers) Empty Re: Council Tax (getting answers)

Paul patterson I don't know wether he may even be on here or you may know him or of him  ( on FB runs a group ) and has written a book  ...
He basically asked Cornwall council what they invested in .
They lied , they invested in a company which invested in weapons .
He has used this a reason not to pay .
I have no idea if of help but here it is ..
The other thing I have learnt is the council vote to raise or not the precept .
My local council have raised it by 40% .
But disguise the fact by splitting it up and labeling in £ rather than % if that makes sence ..
These votes should be named so you can see who voted for and against a rise .
Personally I think if these names where banged around local groups pages etc the votees may be less happy to vote for in future ..
Just a thought ..
I know that's not really what the thread is about but is Ctax related ..

Thanks for the quick responses , Its my thinking that this must only be done via properly worded paperwork asking direct questions with no wiggle room or chance of ambiguity .

This proves that FOIs can reveal what we need ,if worded correctly.
