Interesting talk, do you think it may have possibly been banned/disassociated with as Mr Sheldrake is not being transparent about the eastern historic texts (the Veda's etc etc) being contrasted with western science to sell a book?.

i would say its more likely it was banned because of his views on how everything is connected; there being some underlying consciousness that connects us to each other and everything on this plane!
Think how damaging that would be for global elites/scumbags if that cat ever got let out the bag....it would then be completely insane to murder your fellow man with the realisation that you were really doing it to yourself, after all Their whole manifesto is divide and conquer

Hi lopsum sorry don't want to get into an argument, I'm too long in the tooth. but yeah apparently according to how the system measures Us in the West I was pretty good at science at school(Prisons for the mind), but alas I think all that does is feed the ego as most of the real intelligent people I have come across were not!

BANNED is just click bait , it wasnt banned or censored, just moved from one list to another.
both ted and sheldrake have their own agendas.

This was my point, these are not his views they are a rip off from historic eastern texts such as the Veda's. If this interests you then you may wish to look further into those texts, I have started putting some in the meditation section but still more to add.

If he had been transparent about it then I probably would not of said anything at all but, as he is trying to hide it, in my eyes he is nothing more than a sophist (As described by Aristotle in 'Sophistical Refutations', see resource section for this text) trying to sell books.

Ok actinglikeabanker I've got you now.
That is strange as I would imagine it would be very hard to be in any particular field and to not be influenced(or to have investigated) by what came before, and as I'm not familiar with his written work(only his talks) I would also imagine like you say rather odd if he didn't give credit to where he formed his opinions.

I have never read the texts you mention themselves but have listened to a lot of Alan Watts' work where he name checks the Vedas and the Upanishads,
ive also read his book "the taboo against knowing who you are" which is a great read.

Hey,

Alan Watts is a very good speaker and honest about 'some/many' of his sources which is why I made the 'Various Smile' thread with a broad selection of his talks. This is not to say he is dishonest about any of the sources he gives but he does hold some back but, I feel this is him being playful (or as he puts it 'irreducible rascality') as he is not trying to deceive people just leave people to go that extra step to become the masters of the knowledge themselves instead of been taken in by guru's and such. Mr Watts talks almost take on a whole new meaning once the sources are read.

There is a thread in meditation about 'Buddha Dharma - Buddhism' with the core foundations of the subject, there are two more threads I am working on that relate to that subject 'Vedic Dharma - Sanatana Dharma - Hinduism' & 'Jain Dharma, Jainism' but they are not complete yet. However here is a translated version of the Veda's if you fancy a read Smile.

The Vedas, Rig Veda, Sama Veda, Yajur Veda and Atharva Veda

Four Vedas, English Translation

The Rig Veda, translated by Ralph T.H. Griffith 1896

The Yajur Veda, translated by Arthur Berriedale Keith 1914

The Sama Veda, translated by Ralph T.H. Griffith 1895

The Atharva Veda, translated by Maurice Bloomfield 1897

yes many thanks I will check it out, its all part of the awakening all I've done since the moment I finished college is read and absorb(some resonate with me some smell like B'shit lol) as the late great Frank Zappa said "if you want to get laid go to college, if you want an education go to the library"

Is it possible that Mr Zappa was being facetious, considering that all colleges contain libraries?.

when you are taught from a curriculum it is different than setting off on your own path of learning/discovery I think that was his point, you are seeing the world through blinkers from someone else's point of view.
I know as I've been through the education mill and never learnt anything of any real importance, I learnt more in the presence of wise older fellas than I ever did at any University.
