Beggars

I sometimes go on a Police forum but can only read it as they don't let me post no more because of my different point of view.
Anyway I saw a post on there about an University policeman confiscating money from an illegal street trader and a post by one of our UK Policeman Pete disturbed me, where he states he often confiscates money from beggars on one occasion over 2k. Have a read Here and say what you think about it. If the Police are going to start using proceeds of crime act to target homeless beggars well I think thats a gross abuse of powers.

They can't use the Proceeds of Crime Act, only a Crown Court Judge can make a confiscation order under POCA, even Magistrates don't have jurisdiction.

They can confiscate though and then put the burden of proof on you to go the Magistrates Court to prove you own the money. I think it was if you were stopped carrying £1000 or over.

If yor Homeless , I would Imagine the Bottom Rung of the Ladder is about
2 000 Quid away.
A suitable car to live in, or a few months rent
.Old Bill had no way of knowing about that money.
So many possibilities,
And why is a beggar not allowed to save money ?
Really , if the beggar was Legit ,
he should have had that copper Done for all sorts.
What If the downpayment on a flat is 2000 ?
What are you going to do for food until you can move in ?

aresholes, these people have been learning from their mates in the US where the cops can litterly take anything on the basis they suspect its the proceeds of crime OR proceeds of a crime ABOUT to be committed.

Actual case:

Cops crusing down the street in their car.

see two young blokes sitting on the steps of a house sharing some happy weed.

cops confiscate the weed and because the steps forms part of the house therefore the offence took place in the house to they took that off the the parents too.

This is nothing short of stealing and or looting the public.

Good busienss model: Start with the most vunerable people in the community (most homeless have mental or psysoclgial problems and DEFINATELY NO SUPPORT NETWORK) and then work upwards as confidence and skill increases.

what a sick world, a cop with a well paid job should be giving to the less well off not taking....what an example is that all that goes on these days taking and making a gain from someone else's misfortune? its sick

I would love to be there at the day of reckoning for some of these leeches

Is a beggar not just receiving donations?
If money is confiscated where does it go?
We know where it probably goes but where is it supposed to go?
Do these same police go to the churches in their area to see if they have been 'begging' recently?
