Law on Charging For Letters/Storage
Hi,
I seen a few freemen charging companies for receiving phone calls, letters and home visits can they set any rate? Where in law does it state that any citizens can charge a storage fee for accepting a letter or a phone calls for time wasted?

Re: Law on Charging For Letters/Storage
Its my experience that unless they agree to your charges it is not considered a contract.
I have tried it with missed appointments when i had a factory .The first one i billed after waiting 9 hours on a saturday & they failed to turn up .I billed them at my weekend rate plus vat ( £ 700.00) & they paid it . the next company wanted to change the same meter & same thing happened ,it went to court & despite a written appointment for the meter change the judge ruled it did not form a contract.

Did the payment you receive go through the courts or out of court?
I guess you could see it as is their any point in dealing with this person they are uneducated and will send the debt back and stop annoying you with letters, calls and visits.

Re: Law on Charging For Letters/Storage
Companies, especially utility companies, should be charged for a lot more than just the above....
What do they use to distribute their services? where are they located? and what and where do they supply?
If they are using something of yours to CAPITALISE on then they need to pay rent. You should be discussing their options with them!

Re: Law on Charging For Letters/Storage
Hi pip,
the payment i received was a result of a bill i sent them. That was the first company ,the second company did not respond to the bills i sent ,so thats the one i took to court.
