Notice of issue of warrant of control

Yesterday i received a Notice of Issue of Warrant of Control for £890 witht the creditor being Cabot Financial (UK) Limited. Then today i received a text message from HMCTS saying that they are trying to contact me and a warrant against me has been issued to me which is due for immediate payment. They request that i contact the N&W Yorkshire warrant of control centre. Now i have no idea what this could be for at all as i did not have anything outstanding at all, and i certainly havent received any paperwork of any kind, please can anyone assist on how i deal with this. Any help greatly appreciated.

I would call HMCTS and ask them for more details and also tell them that this is totally unexpected and could simply be some sort of mixup (if you’re sure this has nothing to do with you and / or you cannot recall anything that could have even remotely resulted in this).

This seems strange. You should have received paperwork from the Court,
presuming you have not changed address recently.
If Cabot have your address on the warrant ,why have the court not used
that to contact you.
As Mr blue says .You need to contact the court .

interesting

how have the courts managed to get your phone number ? they clearly dont have your address else they would have written to you.

check your credit file and see if there is anything on there and more importantly check if you have a CCJ registered, you can do this online quite easily but i am not sure of the link ?

do they even have the right 'person' ? does it mention your name or address in the text ? is the text message REALLY from HMCTS ? or is the warrant of control centre hoping you will ring them and reveal the address that they need ?

tread very wearily here and dont give them a name or an address until you know what it is about.

There are currently a spate of texts from scammers claiming to be HMRCS and this sounds like one.

Not sure if you meant to write HMRC, or HMCTS which what Anonymous said. I'm actually wondering if these are two separate issues, I've never heard of HMCTS directly contacting anyone about enforcement of a civil judgement, that's normally left to the claimant. So could this be a separate matter, for example an unpaid Magistrates Court fine, which they would take a hand in chasing? I think it would be worth contacting the court to check it out, but of course don't reply to the text or phone any number provided on that text. Some of the scams are simply a stiff charge for sending a text back to the originating number.

i cant see it being a scam as cabot are mentioned, also i have had HMRC scams but never HMCTS.
