DCA called

Hi. Today i got a call from the dca asking me to identify by answering 2 questions. One was my name and 2nd was DOB. I asked who was calling and the guy said the dca name. I said that that person they are looking for had requested that no calls unless that person does it first and that everything is to be in writing. This guy said that to do that that they needed me to identify who i am and my dob. I said that they have the address and can send a letter as i was not going to identify myself. So i expect a letter in a few days from them.
The guy wanted me to give him my email address and i again had to tell him to put what he wanted in a letter and send it and again he insisted that he couldn't until i identified myself. I said that since their company has written to him that they have his address and can send a letter. So i am now waiting as it could be next week.

well done mate, you didnt't give them joinder or your identity.

Another option is to say:

" I do not wish to contract with you and dont call again" and hang up.

If we dont consent to enter into a contract with someone, they cant do a great deal about it.

I always used to ask for their name, address and DOB, seems only fair if they're asking for mine !!

No letter today in the post. What i would like to know is when replying back to the dca that whoever sent the letter should i write their name with title or just leave the title off. I have written back without a title and was wondering if i should start writing back with title.

The advantage of including their job title is that its a bit like a more precision form of targeting. In fact I would suggest that the job title is more important than the persons name as its the job title that has the obligation to write back to you no matter who is acting in that role.

It also makes it a little more difficult for them to claim they did not know who your letter was intended for and hence was never replied to.

One of the benefits of writing to the CEO is that they cannot argue they have no power to bind the company in contract. Getting your letter to and responded to by someone with this power is cream on the cake for you, hence the value of the job title.

It appears that the guy last week had no intention of writing as i have not recieved any letter this week from him. It appears that he really wanted to have me identify myself to him first. Under the Data Protection Act he could not say anything until i did identify myself or he would be in breach of the Act if he said anything.

So by not identifying myself to him, that i am not playing his game and his special training cannot be used on me. So he said when i told him that he needed to send a letter. He kept saying that i needed to identify myself first before he could send a letter as he needed to know that he was sending a letter to the right person.

Under the Data Protection Act i am protected until i identify myself. Once i identified myself i am no longer under the protection of the Data Protection Act. He would speculate that he was talking to me but he needed to make sure by having me identify myself. Failing to have me identify as to who i was that he needed to keep telling me that he needed me to identify myself as i was not playing his game and in the end he had to give up.

They do it for several reasons, first they try to get joinder and you can bet they will be recording it, second it is a fishing trip to collect as much data as they can on you as data is a saleable commodity, and thirdly it is to sound you out about your personal being to see how they can trick you into other things by how compliant you are.

Well the dca has called me at work and it was a different person and left a message to call asap. I wonder if this one will not get their bonus if i do not call.mmmmm... since i will not be returning any call as they had been told in writting to write.. must be hard for them to understand...

Well all my letters were sent by registered mail and they all say that i want the dca to write. Not only do i want whoever writes to me but including everyone from the whole dca group. But no one wants to write as there only want to call and are wanting me to speak with them. It takes awhile before these callers learn that i want them to write and it is not a hard thing to do. From what i have read on here that those that write to the dca chasing them that they want them to write and they have. But over here in Australia the dcas want to call and not write.

Last year when the dca started writing to me that i with faljay's help were able to refute their letters. Not once had the dca ever refuted my letters refuting their letters. My last letter to the dca in July last year had never been refuted and things went quiet for 7 months. Then the dca wrote a letter and it was like nothing had ever happened last year. So with help from ausk i wrote to the dca and got no reply until a few weeks later where the dca wrote and said if i do not pay them that they would default me. So i modified a letter that faljay helped with to this other dca and sent that to them. I did include about the BoE and the dca never refuted my letter. Now the dca had started calling me at work and the first time i never identified who i was and said they needed to write but they never. Last week another person from the dca called and left a message to call her ASAP. Never called as i am waiting for the dca to write and tell me what they want.

Hi 1saberwow

Either keep doing what you're doing, it's only the inconvenience of a few letters, or confront them. Those are your choices. They may never stop sending letters - so what? If you ever receive one offering a court date - no problem. You send the court a letter and they'll back off.

Well my last letter has never been rebutted and 6 weeks later they try and call. At the time i never identified myself to them and another 6 weeks later another caller from the dca calls and i never answered or returned their call. So i think it may take a few weeks before they again call. If they get a xmas bonus that they will miss out this year. As i will reply to their letters but it appears that they do not want to write..

I can confirm that this dca is wanting me to call them as they rang anybody in the street asking if they know me. They called a family friend and asked if they know me and this lady said she sometimes sees me at church. The guy that called and asked her to give me a message to call him about a private matter. I looked up the number and i was correct that it came from this dca that had 2 other people call me wanting to speak with me. As often been said that we should not call these people back as they will get us to agree with them on something and this maybe all they need to trap us. If i call them back that i would have to identify myself to them. I told this lady that if he calls her that he needs to write to me as to what he is needing. If i am correct that they will not write but will try and call someone else to get me to call them. If this guy calls the lady and he disclosure what he is wanting can he be in trouble as this lady has nothing to do with me apart from been a family friend.

Just want to make it clear that the family friend never knew the guy that called her asking if she knew me. She never knew that he was a representative for a DCA. All he told her was that he needed me to call him back on the number he gave her. I had told her that if he calls her back that she should tell him that he should write to me and state what he is wanting. After learning that he may have called many people that live along my road trying to find someone that might know me. This shows how desperate the DCA is and that they do not want to write to me as i have refutted their letters and every letter i have written to them has never been refutted by them. So now i wait to see who will tell me that i need to call this guy.

Today will be a Mexican Standoff. It is now apparent that this rep is desperate. I did tell this lady to tell the rep if he called her to tell him to write to me but she is reluctant to speak to him or tell him to write. I will tell the ladies that may take his call if he or anyone from this dca that the best write as he (me) will respond to their letters.

Maybe be better to get them to all write down what happened and when, if this is classed as harassment you have your evidence.
