What Snow

Well, where to begin!!!! first we had the media lies of this being the worst weather for the last 30 years, lies and more lies as I can remember worse winters than this in the last 30 years.

Then we had the media portraying people as heroes, and in two cases on the radio it was doctors, one who allegedly walked to work 10 miles away, and another who cycled 5 miles to work, would they have been heroes if they had slipped or fallen and injured themselves and put many peoples lives at risk while trying to rescue them, or is it the fact that they are doctors makes them so special, in my mind they are both blithering idiots with no regard for their actions or their consequences and had no consideration for other people risking, and potentially losing their lives. If had been any normal person doing exactly the same thing the media would be slating them for their stupidity. Ahhhhh the media again.

Then we had the kids sent home from school because the heating boiler had broken down, forgive the irony here but isn't the heating boiler supposed to work during cold spells and be reliable enough not to break down when its cold? but as the kids returned home they went and cleared everyones path or drive and as most residents have a log burner they went round to the house of everyone at work and used their spare keys to get in and lit their log butners so their homes were warm when they got home, they even took loads of dry logs around to ensure everyone had a stack of dry logs, and also a huge number of recycled logs which they make from waste. As a village we prepared, most of us have fresh veg and fruit which is picked and either frozen or bottled so food wasn't an issue, and we had the foresight to stock up with long life and powdered milk and even large bags of self raising flower as 3 cups of self raising flour and one cup of water mixed together makes a simple damper which takes about 30 minutes to cook in an oven, and many people add many things to them to make sweet and savoury dampers which are nice on their own. We stocked up on water by many residents drawing from my springs which didn't freeze up so had fresh water, and with heat, food, and water, what more do you really need.

Actually we did need other things, the mass snowball fights and sledging are compulsory and we had some large steel weights so we did some curling when I welded some handles onto them.

I have one of these huge polluting, anti social, devil incarnate 4X4's and suddenly it didn't matter because they were demanding that we take people to work in them, how about F*CK OFF as you have been slating them for several years and now you expect me to spend my time taking people to work and spend my money on fuel and wear and tear of my vehicle to take other people to work, but what about the insurance implications of this as you won't be insured for taxiing people about so who pays if I am involved in an accident, and would anyone take me to work? I doubt it.
Meanwhile, someone had recorded the news and this was astounding as it came from a po-lice control room with about 20 people in it, yet only 2 were actually working, so why didn't those corrupt coppers get of their fat ar*es and use some of their 4X4's to ferry people to work, or is it too much trouble to get out of their nicely heated offices and actually to something constructive and actually serve the public, or is the constant abuse of the self same public you took an oath to serve less important than your nice offices.

In the middle of this so called bad weather I decided I fancied some fish and chips, lo and behold, our local chip shop was open so we telephoned a whole village order through and I went out in -11 in the devil incarnate to go and fetch it, so we all had fish and chips and had no problems whatsoever, safe in the knowledge that I had my winter and recovery kit in the back, and I even went in my T shirt as my vehicle was warm and free of snow and ice, and even my windscreen washers worked.

So, did the weather affect us, NO, as we had prepared, were prepared, and we all had nearly a week off work or school on full pay.
