Apply a little logic to the olympics, its a travelling circus in which athletes and their teams travel from all corners of the world, they also have extensive facilities, one being for drugs testing (allegedly) and if you have the capability to test for banned substances you also have capability to harness the facility for nefarious purposes.

How many recent olympics and other major sporting events have had outbreaks of something, in London it was sickness and diahorrea and in Beijing it was allegedly gastro enteritus and almost every olympics in living memory has had some outbreak of something. These athletes are extremely fit and live healthy lifestyles and are less susceptible to common ailments, so why are so many of them getting these ailments, lets put another perspective on this.
Athletes and support staff travel from all over the world, therefore you have lots of carriers of many ailments, most travel by aircraft which use recirculated air and most only introduce about 4% of fresh air per cycle of the air due to fuel costs, therefore an aircraft with one carrier can infect most of an entire aircraft. At such large events you can also infect many athletes and their crews from all over the globe and suddenly you have these athletes now acting as cariers travelling home by plane, so if you didn't infect someone at such events you have several carriers returning home on a plane which will infect everyone on the plane. Some may show symptoms, others may not, and these may simply be carriers.

Now you have a virus spreading worldwide and infected many countries by many carriers.
