As we appear to see more civilians & idiots from councils using speed traps/guns etc I cannot find out whether they have any standing in law or more to the point in the legal system (commerce), it appears they do not.

The second link gives some info on this topic but does anyone have any further 'legal' info on this.

I would advise anyone on getting a speeding ticket to seek out who actually filmed you (other than a stationary fixed camera), i.e. police or civilian, such as police staff or council w***er, what vehicle were they in & info on equipment used.

I once passed some civilians doing the above & they got an appropriate gesture (clue above with reference to council lol)

I had something similar, near to my Mothers they constructed a short bypass to bypass a village and it was often used during bad weather as the bypass was built very badly and on the cheap and it had very poor drainage and regularly flooded, and the residents of this village assumed everyone should be driving at horse and cart speeds.

I had a very strongly worded letter from the Lice and I contacted them to find out what it was about and asked them some searching questions, I asked if the person making this claim was a Lice officer, answer NO, I asked what type of equipment they used and they refused to answer, and I asked for the calibration records and they claimed they didn't have any. I informed them they would remove this data from their system and they refused, but once I launched a case against them they went backwards faster than a WW II Italian tank.

I used to race cars and one thing I know is that people are notorious for not being able to judge speeds, and I used to assist in a fun driving day open to anyonne and this involved a series of driving challenges (on private land) and one test we always did was the speed estimation test which involved watching a car travelling at a set speed and over 95% guessed the speed incorrectly.
We ran a car at 31 MPH along a feeder road and everyone judged its speed and of the 200 people guessing the speed, over 190 said it was travelling over 50 MPH, not much difference.
