Hi I am new to this site but was a member of GOODF which i used with success a few years ago.
I have recently received letters from a DCA acting as an agent requesting payment for a debt with a CCC. I decided to start the 3 letter process using your template for DCA acting as an agent. They have replied with 2 letters one of which has brought to my attention I am still paying £1 as agreed with stepchange about 8 years ago, I know i have made an error here and will cancel the direct debit but where do i stand as far as 3 letters are concerned. I was considering replying with second letter and also thanking them for bringing the direct debit to my attention.

thanks Bloonose.

Reply with the next letter, also inform them that you have no recollection of this
alleged debt and you therefor require verification of their claim by responding
in full with what you have requested in the letters

Agreed with DaveIron.

Are you still using the old templates? Before you go any further, it is essential that you read the following link to the recently REVISED GOODF Process and Templates. It will ensure you fully understand the latest approach and what is involved, and will therefore increase your chances of success including avoiding the courts. Simple copying and pasting of templates is extremely unlikely to work. It's all very clear and easy to follow and there is no significant difference to the original process, except we now have a NoCA as a fourth letter.

But the key, and as the process states up front, is to make sure you actually understand why we ask for the documents we ask for via our letters.

And most importantly: properly understanding and following the GOODF process also helps us to help you going forward...

Thank you.

Thanks for the reply yes I have used the new letters, personolised them and read the link thank you, is the NoCA instead of the estoppel also do you have a template letter for a DCA when i am in correspondence with another DCA.

thanks again.

OK that's good to hear. Personally I would now only use the NoCA after the 3 letters.

I'm not sure what you mean by "a template letter for a DCA when i am in correspondence with another DCA"?

after i had sent first letter to DCA they must have returned it to the client and they have passed it on to another DCA I was under the impression they cant do that.

OK sounds like a Debt Purchaser (DP) used a DCA (Debt Collection Agent). And then when that DCA was no good (as are they ALL in my experience - I have fended off many) the DP used another DCA who, I can ASSURE you, will also be no good... A DP can use as many DCAs as it's likes.

Yes sounds right will start again with letters I wouldnt mind its only for a small amount but will go through process. It is strange though i start to get stressed when i get the letters from DCAs but as soon as started reading up and getting my letters ready you can actually feel the stress lifting.

thank you.

Stressed is exactly what they want you to be. The longer you play the game
the less stressed you will become.

And DaveIron has hit the nail on the head. It is a game in that they add toying with you in the good you quit...

Just a quick update done as you advised and both D.C.A.s have returned matters back to original companies as you said they would. One of the companies a credit card company sent a very apologetic letter along with a cheque for £50 compensation which I am very wary to cash due to reading other posts.

Have started letters to another D.C.A. for an account i have been ignoring letters for a while, only because once you start dealing with people this way you quickly gain confidence.
My experience in the past has proved this, that was when I followed the 3 letter process but the company eventually took it court but I won the case quite stressful at the time but was amazing when it went in my favour and never heard from them again.

Thank you for your support.

We now have the NoCA which hopefully should stop court action as there is
then no controvesy ,therefor nothing for a court to rule upon.

Well done to be wary, do NOT cash that cheque to be on the safe side.

That's good news (for now) and if they or another debt purchaser comes after you, use the NoCA Daveiron refers to Smile
