What is the process with removing and fitting your own electricity meter. ?

Obviously you purchase a meter and change it, but what then? should anything be done before the removal

Does it have to be registered and given away to who ever you register it to?

Do you send the old one back or tell the old supplier to collect it , [what do you do]

although am NOT in anyway recommending you to join Emoven, watch these vids I think she explains the process of getting new meters in & registering them through the trust.

If you follow what she does but in your own name at national grid (if as you stated you cannot register the meters can you see what that would mean?) then it would be Nat' Grid that would legally own the meters but you have benifical interest (use) of said meters. The benificary has an overriding concern.

as you have prepay in then instruct the util Co to come & take them away. Make sure you have cert's for both supplies for conformity of your new meters.

has anybody got a copy of the edf company information that mentions bills of exchange, promissory notes etc.
i could only find it in the london electric company information, that was a few years ago and things seem to be missing now.

When you say your new meter is fitted, do you mean its one you have had
fitted (not the new one they fitted) ?
If thats the case ,I would give them the opening reading & inform them you
will be submitting monthly or quarterly readings .Also that unless they collect
their meter within 1 month they will be liable to a monthly storage charge.

Too right, get THEM to come & remove it. I think the staute of limitation is 6 or 7 years, if after that time no one claims it then its yours to do as you.....
