Long story short. I've been diagnosed with BPD and depression, it's been a long year for me and I'm still in therapy. I have neglected a lot of things , my health, my family and my post. Today I decided to make a go with the post and the first letter I open is a notice from the CCMCC with a notice of application for attachment of earnings order, with a note stating I could go to jail for up to 14 days..

Meds are working and I've been off the booze for a while, so I'm not completely freaking out yet. But I'm pretty scared, I can't go to jail, I'd lose it in there.

I'm going to call the court on Monday, but I was wondering what advice you peeps could give me ?

The one day I feel strong enough to deal with the post, after almost 2 years of crazy rollercoaster life.. This.. Sad

I'm self employed on working tax credits, with zero income right now and I'm facing being homeless in February of next year!

I don't think they can apply an attachment of earnings order if you are self employed or unemployed.
Have a read HERE it may be of some help hopefully. By the way good luck on your road to recovery and if you have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder then couldn't you get your case worker to help you apply for disability benefits.

Hi Jinxer. It's Borderline Personality Disorder . I actually thought it was Bipolar the first time I saw the letters Smile

I don't have a case worker, only therapists who see me twice a week. I'm seeing them on Monday, so I will take your advice and see what they can suggest. In the past they've been pretty rubbish at giving advice, saying that I would be better off going to CAB for example. They mostly listen, good work if you can get it.

I'm better today than I was last year, so I hope this is just me overreacting again and I can get back to positive mentalisation (MBT) Very Happy

Emacle,.
The best thing to do is try not to think about what they say, you won't be going to prison, this is a tactic they use to scare the living life out of you.
But they wont be doing anything that extreme

I'm quite sure you will get advice on here that will be beneficial to you, so please do relax

Yes I remember it very well, I was contacted via one of there solicitors and was told they were going to take my house in a few days time,
Lets say my mum became so worried I would lose my house, she borrowed what they were asking from a friend of the family .

Sometimes you have to take the rough with the smooth, concentrate on getting yourself in a position of strength
These things take time, it wont be happening this week, next week or the following
Listen to what people have to say..

BUT you have to make sure, YOU become strong in yourself, strong in your own situation and all that is happening around you..

May I ask your profession? Have you thought about contacting an agency company for work related positions, on a week to week basis?

I apologize for getting that wrong, I know someone with bipolar so understand it a little. BPD sounds equally as bad or maybe even worse and I would look on mind website to see what help you could receive regarding benefits. Click here

Get in touch with the Court, do not ignore. Complete the form and return it, or if they've set a hearing date, attend on the date, please do not ignore this.
