Police believe officers may have been blowing into the breathalysers themselves, most likely due to laziness and the need to meet targets.

This means that the lice have also been driving over the limit, or at work over the legal limit which is also illegal as the limit for being at work is generally the same as for drink driving unless a company sets their own lower limit.

I missed this but what it proves and proves it quite conclusively, is that the money is all that counts.

In a book called "Cowboys in Uniform" written former West Australian Police officer, Ian Patten, it was stated that police have many key performance indicators by which their performance is measured but all officers quickly learn that there is only one KPI that counts and that is Infringements Issued.

What I wonder about is where is all this money going? Why is the state using infringements as a tool to loot the populace?

Off topic a bit I know but its relevant. Only recently, I read of research that was carried out for Angliecare, the peak Welfare lobby group in Australia.

The data showed that tax dedications given to the top 20% of income earners in Australia by the Aus Tax Office, add up to an amount of money that is GREATER than all the pensions, family payments and unemployment payments paid out each year in Australia, combined.

From memory, the figure was $24 Billion dollars worth of tax deductions was given back to the top 20% of income earners. This must have included corporations.

So the question arises, is the Australian Government using the infringement system as tool to recoup, at least in part, the $24 Billion dollars given back to the top 20% of income earners?

Fines in Australia is a $2 Billion a year industry.

When I go into centerlink (Australia equivalent to the DHS, I think it is in the UK), I see big signs saying "Beware of Welfare Fraud"
