What is the name of the debt collector? Or presumably it is, in fact, a debt purchaser?

Does the letter state they bought the alleged debt from the water company? Or are managing it on behalf of the water company?

OR (other way round) Did you get a letter from the water company saying they had sold the alleged debt or that <name of debt company> is managing the account on behalf of the water company?

OK so not debt purchasers but debt collection agents. However, the three letter system in the link below applies to alleged debts that originated as a loan, credit card etc.

Hopefully one of the other members / moderators will be able to supply a more suitable template in relation to a utilities bill, apologies

Also, depending on how much you owe the water company, it might make more sense to come to some sort of settlement (with the water company NOT the DCA). Is the water bill definitely yours are we talking about a mistake e.g. a previous resident etc?

Hi & welcome Cookiemonster2.

Sorry to hear of your situation. Firstly judging by your narrative you are at some point where those dca(s) are coming after you. Do not worry too much I have had this myself, but this was after paying by endorsement, information can be found in this thread if you wish to read it.

https://goodf.forumotion.com/t3622-down-memory-lane

it is quite lengthy but what you reqiure is in there some where. My first point of note is that you can if you wish you can come to some sort of arrangement with water Co & pay that way OR if you are prepared to put up with hasstle you can pay by endorsement, the beauty of that is, it is paid by your signiture NOT out of your bank account & in that it is FREE! YES £0 out of your account.

If after deciding the path of pay by endorsement is not for you then you will have to come to an arrangement to pay, others here will be able to help with that.

If you have questions please ask.

Where it states "start of the holly grail" in the link above start watching those you tube videos from there.

Regards

LS

Dont let these parasites dictate to you, they have no standing there is nothing they can do. In any event
if you are going to pay it ,pay the water co. direct. These scum no doubt get a fee for all they collect.
So no collection no fee.The sooner these parasites are out of business the better.
As LS said offer a payment plan, you will find they will accept a reasonable offer.

If you offer a payment plan ONLY offer what you can realistically afford, even if its £10, £20, or £30 a month it does not matter.

As DI stated, do not let these scum dictate to you. Have had a threat-o-gram in the last week, pay up or else, I have my narrative (sh*t) to throw back.

all the best.

LS

Both DI and LS bloody spot on as usual.

You (cookiemonster2) have nothing to worry about. So forget about it and enjoy the bank holiday. Then come Tuesday, get onto the water company next week and effectively say (as LS says) "this is what you're going to get per month and that's it" haha. No way can they come after you once you're paying something. Simple!

Let me throw a little fuel on the fire here.

You need to know exactly what the warrant is for because their common tactic is deceipt using words, let me explain, is it because you owe an alleged debt for gas, or is it because you already have a repayment plan and you are not honouring it which is breach of contract?
