Systems Test

Thursday night was a normal night except for the heat and this prompted me to sleep outside in the hammock as the flysheet was already up and if it rained I didn't care. I went to bed just after 11 o clock and had a good sleep as I always do outside and woke up after 3 am and got up and looked around and there was the usual twinkling lights in the distance and as I looked away and looked back, there they were, gone.
It was a power cut and the whole area was out and within 5 minutes the walkie talkie chatter had started and we could evaluate our recent electrical installation and the local area network to see if it was working and it appeared to be. Every house has emergency LED lighting on a 12 volt circuit which just gives enough light to get around the house and these are strategically positioned in every house and they illuminate if the mains power goes out to show the mains has dropped and the digital battery chargers kick in to charge every houses large battery bank using our water turbines to provide every house with 2 Kw of electricity and a little more if their freezer kicks in.

That time of the morning meant consumption was low and the brakes were on turbines and as demand increased some of the turbines released their brakes and kicked in and their nominated output was quickly regulated to demand and within 15 minutes most of the village was up and every house had their 12V lights switched on so had light and while some had multiple lights switched on we were testing the systems and all was well as no freezers went off and everyone had light from their battery systems which were also charging and it showed we could cope from our home built LAN in the event of a power cut.

Oh yes, me rely on me and me alone where possible and if more people tried to achieve this then fewer people could be held to ransom and if more people stuck together it would screw the system as politicians would have to work for us and do what we want instead of what they like to line their own pockets.
