Is this a trap? They're sending me money!!!

Hi again,

Just opened today's mail and Lloyds (who I am in dispute with over a credit card and bank account via the 3 letter process) have sent me a 'refund cheque'. They said they'd written to inform me of this, but I didn't get a letter re this.

Are they trying to find my current bank details or am I entering an agreement by accepting the money?

get a cheque and acceptance based on there being no conditions attached

Not sure what you mean. If they're trying to find my bank account or that I had dealings with them, then they wouldn't need to disclose that and who in HSBC would even agree to sign a sworn statement to the contrary.

Hey,

If you have not received the letter they state they sent you then, I would personally request in writing another copy of it before any acceptance in any form is made.

Have you ever claimed ppi?, they might be trying to refund ppi payments meaning they can come after the larger sum.

Good call. I'll request a copy of the letter. Can't believe I didn't think of that. Duh!

As ALAB correctly states, is this a PPI refund as they are issuing cheques left, right, and centre.

You could go to a cheque cashing service and get them to cash it for you and give you cash, no traceability on cash.

Yes i would tread carefully, i had a letter from where an alleged loan was taken out stating i may have a PPI claim - but this loan was then sold on & i ceased payments on such, so i have not chased a PPI claim as i fear it is a 'trap' to open up the buyer of alleged loan in them coming for the kill with alleged outstanding balance...these people are evil devious cu*ts - as we all know!

I would also tread very carefully with Lloyds.
I have been trying to reclaim PPI from them ,going as far as the ombudsman and still no success .
They claim they no longer have any copies of the T&C's for that year.
In my dealings with banks I have found Lloyds to be the most devious.
To add they are still holding a WeRe cheque of mine.

Its maybe from a different department from the bank , find out what the cheque was for if PPI, :) take it
