Some may be applicable to some countries, and not others, so use or modify this to suit you.

Shotgunning - this is a technique where solicitors or other tracing agents look at public records for someone of a specific name in a specific area, they call by telephone if they can find a listed number for the addresses, or they write to the nake if they cannot find a telephone number. In all cases they target people with the same name within a specific area and in the UK this is ILLEGAL as they are merely looking for a response from a number of the people with that name so they can dismiss those names and addresses, with a narrowed list they can target a shortlist.

Watching - this is where they often have a shortlist and they use investigators to watch an address and they are looking for patterns and property, they look to see if you have a vehicle and often follow the vehicle to see what routines you have such as work patterns, and particularly where you work, if you park on your property or if you park in a car park at work as this is private property, and more importantly, if you park on a public road as they can clamp a car on a public road. They look at what is outside on your property to what asset values you may have which are not locked away, and if you have a fenced and locked property to ascertain an easy and legal access, and what is the best time to do so, while you are not there.

The Routine - this is extremely useful for debt collectors as this gives them useful information, where do you work, how long do you work and for how many days, where and when do you go shopping and do you have children or others with you, and how long are you going to be. Do you visit family and are they going to be approachable and a useful source of information about you, and would they be willing to settle your debts.
