Diesel Car Truth Emerging

Diesel cars have been villified for a while now and it hasn't gone unnoticed that it is a political agenda (of the EU) which is driving the agenda in Europe, and they have been villified for the amount of emissions they produce when compared to petrol engined cars, but the stark reality is you are comparing apples with mangoes when you compare diesel and petrol engine emissions as they emit totally different pollutants, but shock and horror, recent testing reveals an interesting truth.

Diesel cars actually clean the pollution of inner city areas and this can be up to 90% of inner city air pollution is removed by driving a diesel vehicle through polluted areas and this is due to a single component fitted to diesel engines, the diesel particulate filter (DPF) which has been fitted to all diesel engined vehicles for over a decade, and they are so efficient at removing pollutants from the vehicles exhausts that the polluted air they draw in is cleaned so much that the emitted emissions are actually much lower than the ambient air. Testing is stilll in its infancy and some amazing results have been noted, but the parameters surrounding air pollution play a significant part in determining the actual amount of pollution they remove, but even when they are regenerating themselves, they still significantly clean the air around them.

Factors include the pollutants or air quality, the ambient temperature, the type of DPF fitted, and its efficiency.

In simple terms, on a cold and dank day the pollutants emitted stay lower to the ground and this is where diesels cleaning the air are at their most efficient as they inhale this heavily polluted air and it passes through their engine as diesels inhale a surplus of air to work, this air is then injected with diesel and the combustion takes place, burning diesel emits soot particles through combustion and in heavily polluted areas this combustion does two things, it naturally burns many pollutants and those emitted cling to the soot particles and enter the DPF where they are collected to a certain point, then they are reburned by the DPF and up to 100% of the contaminants are burned off again and give cleaner air at the exhaust than the engine air intake.

During windy weather things change, the wind causes the pollution to blow around and this disperses them at higher altitudes and this prevents them entering the diesel engine and being cleaned, but, at average UK wind speeds the testing shows around a 50% improvement in air quality as many of the heavier pollutants remain closer to the ground and are absorbed into the diesel engines intake system.

During hot weather the air pollution is much lower as pair pollutants rise much higher than in cold weather and even under these conditions the testing shows improvements in air quality of 10-20% depending on the air temperature.

So, they are banning diesel cars because of the emissions they produce, show me the evidence?

In point of fact it clearly shows their claims are false and fraudulent if a diesel engined vehicle is cleaning the air around it and undermines their very arguments of dirty diesels polluting town centres and this will be vital evidence in challenging the diesel bans as based upon flawed perceptions.
