That’s brilliant, thank you MrBlue. That’s nice and concise. I’m so glad I’ve asked as I confused myself with too much information.

Presumably the £10 fee can be paid via postal order?

Just to add… do I sign it with my normal signature, or should I just do it in cap letters. The reason why I’m asking is that I’ve read that some creditors copy and paste signatures if they don’t have one. Thank you.

There’s no fee.

And yes, make sure you sign it (doesn’t matter what they do) Wink

Your questions around the SAR imply that you think the SAR is something to do with the GOODF process. They are not. But we use them to help support what we are trying to achieve… As I said, you can send them to any organisation that holds your personal data Smile

Right, off to work!

If you are concerned about them lifting your signature, just sign it
a little differently ,add an extra squiggle or something & photo copy the
signed letter. Then any forged signature will be provable.

But surely HSBC won’t supply any documents if the signature is wrong? They’ll check her signature against the one they already have for her…

[Assassin] No they won't because they can only claim a fraud is occuring, once they make a claim they have to substantiate it in writing and this opens them up to another lawful claim against them, there can be many reasons for s different signature, she cut her hand on an open tin while cooking dinner, the dog (or someone elses) accidentally bit her, she got a thorn in her hand whilst gardening, she trapped her hand in the door; there are many provable reasons for an altered signature and they have to prove their claim.

Thank you very much, I’ve read all the responses. I have sent the SAR with a slight change to my signature. Took the photo copy of the original with my ‘real’ signature. Let’s see what I get back…

Hi ,no need to rush, time is on your side. In fact its often a good idea when
you compose something to them ,to wait untill the next day & read it again
as that way you can often improve things with a second reading.

Very valuable advice, thank you daveiron.

I think, between now and the ‘kick off’ , I’m going to give myself a little headspace as my head is so full of information. I feel mentally ready but, of course, cannot rush the process.

Dear all.

I hope you’re all keeping well & healthy.

I have now heard back from HSBC regarding my SAR. Unfortunately they did not provide it. Instead, I received a letter requesting to call them or to go into the local branch to ‘identify’ myself in person so that they can proceed with it.

Also, I already am receiving calls & messages re: missed payment on my loan.

May I ask two questions please:

Do I now send the first letter to them, or await for a default notice?

What on earth do I do about my SAR request? Do I write back to them asking for is again?

Thank you very much in advance.

Looks like they dont want to provide a dsar.
They sent you a letter ,that must have contained your name / address &
other info.So they have all you are required to give them.

Personally i would write back (RM signed for) & inform them they have
all the necessary details , you will not be attending your branch,& unless
they comply with your DSAR within the specified time you will make a complaint
to the ICO for their non compliance.
Make it clear also that from now on you only give them permission to contact
you via Royal Mail. ( that usually stops everything else)

On an unrelated matter .I recently did a DSAR to Morissons supermarket for
their cctv footage of me,they demanded photo id which i refused ,
They were given a time date and which part of the store the incident occured
i made a complaint to the ICO which was upheld.

Agreed with DaveIron.

To add that I’ve had issues in the past too trying to obtain a SAR from HSBC on time and in FULL, but a complaint to the ICO soon begins them into line…

Note also that HSBC, or any bank, debt company etc,  may use the plandemic as an excuse for “people not being in the office to print and post documents” etc. Which is of course nonsense, as they are perfectly capable in replying to your letters… Wink

Hello everyone.

I hope you are all keeping well. Just an up-date on my SAR, or should I say, the lack of it! Not received anything thus far. I’ve given them another 30 days to respond, but the time is ticking with only six days left to provide me with it.

As I requested to be only contacted by Royal Mail, the calls and text messages have stopped, but no corespondents at all. It’s all gone quiet.

Thank you daveiron.

Yes, I do intend to make the complaint to Information Commissioner once their time is up.

Yes, I am very clear in my head how to proceed, thank you for asking. In short, I am going to challenge the alleged debt. I have zero to lose and am not bothered about bad credit rating.

Why do you give them another 30 days? I complained to the ICO the moment 30 days was up. In fact, if I was you, I would proceed with a complaint now.
