Solicitors contacted me via e-mail asking for money.
Just wondering if anyone knows here if this is right or not, got a solicitors e-mail it was addressed "Dear sirs" as i was suspisious I asked for some proof of who they where they were asking for money for unpaid ground rent, I asked for a break down and more information, and they did not get back to me for 14days, they then said the fee had gone up £904 because payment was not made within 10days. Hope that makes some sort of sense, but it all seems off to me, wondering if anyone knows if I have any come back. thanks.

Submit your fees to them, if they cannot respond and play for time to increase their fees then its fraud, it was their failure to respond, not yours.
Nothing by E-mail do everything by letter as its easier to catch them out, actually very easy.
Remember they play on your ignorance and we collectively know what to look for.

Something I forgot to add, due to the threat of court on my flat I ended up paying, I tried to complain about the informal response but got fobbed off no surprise. Can I still submit my fees to them, also what can I charge for... cheers

From memory, i had a hearing fee added (£20-30) if i recall.
You may be liable to costs if you lose, but in my experence judges have
not awarded any costs.

In two mind right now, as I think I might be lacking evidence, I have the e-mail they sent and my response to prove who they are, but it's not worked well looking back at it. Do any of you think that it matters the the response is poor, and only via email.

Re: Solicitors contacted me via e-mail asking for money.
The costs that can be claimed and awarded are strictly limited for a Small Claim (assuming England). There's an exception if one of the parties has behaved "unreasonably", but it would have to be really unreasonable.darkfireblade wrote:Thanks I will definitely consider taking them on, just wondered out of interest if anyone know in regards to small claims court, are there any other fess other than the initial court fee.

Re: Solicitors contacted me via e-mail asking for money.
That's not how proper communication works, right? And the whole delay in getting back to you plus the sudden increase in the fee just doesn't sit well with me. It sounds fishy. I once had a similar experience where someone tried to rush me into paying an unexpected bill, and I felt uneasy about it. Ended up doing some research and found this app, a free earn money app, called "90+ Apps That Pay You Real Money." Tried it out and found some great ways to make extra cash. Now, I'm not an expert, but if I were you, I'd dig a bit more before shelling out any money. Maybe seek legal advice or look into your rights regarding these kinds of demands. It's always better to be safe than sorry.
