Water Empty Water

Post by assassin Mon Oct 17, 2022 3:23 pm

Now we have issues with water and basically we don’t have enough of it according to many in the industry while the rainfall figures for the UK show different facts and the real issue is that we actually have the rainfall but not the storage capacity to meet our requirements. Is there a solution and the obvious is to cut usage and repairing the numerous leaks would be an excellent start followed by all the illegal immigrants coming in and getting houses would be another and there are many more things the companies could do but don’t as they cost money and shareholders profits and dividends rank higher than their customers who fund their huge profits.

Is it time we invested in a water grid so wetter parts of the country can supply the drier parts and that these uncontrolled developments should be stopped; in one case a home was sold and demolished and a 28 apartment building was put on the site. Now we have gone from water to one house to water to 28 apartments and sewage from one family to sewage from 28 couples as a minimum and when we factor in 28 lots of washing up, washing machines and everything needing water we have created a huge problem so multiply this by all the similar developments of this type.

Many other countries manage on much less water than we do so where is the issue? Actually its money again as the last records I have is for the CEO of Severn Trent Water and they received a salary of £2.45M, yes million. Is this a realistic salary for a person who is being funded by the bill payers or is it a fantasist football players salary? You decide.

Meanwhile we have Severn Trent looking to stay ahead of the curve and increase storage capacity and they proposed building a higher dam in front of the current dam and this was rejected by the planners as while it would increase water storage capacity the original dam had a preservation order on it. This means construction of a new dam would mean the old dam would be underwater and not maintained or preserved.

Enter me and my engineering degrees and I and many others must be stupid as we all came up with similar solutions.
With water levels dropping so low it would be a perfect time to excavate the existing reservoirs and remove the many years of silt which had built up as silt and sediments take up water storage space and for every cubic metre of silt you excavate you have an additional 1000 litres of water storage. Many newer reservoirs have concrete bottoms and these linings are something to work to and something you can excavate to and silt removal should be a given when reservoir levels are low as they are easily excavated and water storage capacity restored, but despite these fantasy salaries and so called expertise at their fingers these people fail to do the obvious.

Many other water companies have failed miserably to deliver the service you pay for so why are you still paying? What needs doing is a large class action with thousands of claims of “non performance” by the water companies because they are the alleged experts and have failed to address the issues.

Water Empty Re: Water

Post by LionsShare Mon Oct 17, 2022 7:52 pm

assassin there is a sort of waterish grid. In some parts of the country parts of 1 water network do supply some of the larger cities, this can between several water companies or 1 company that has several small networks. I am lead to believe parts of North Wales do supply Liverpool or at least used to. That would be Dwr Cymru/Dee Valley Water to UU.
Yes, fully aware of it and many of these schemes were introduced by various water companies as they lack water storage capacity and piping it in would be cheaper then road tanker so it spawned several connections and Government hoped it would take off so they didn't have to legislate it to be done and initially it was London centric in that water from Northern England and Scotland could make up the short fall in London. Unfortunately it didn't happen and this raises the issues of a grid and nationalisation.
