old debt has come back to me

hi im not sure how active this site is but a debt from 2010 has come out of the blue. i sent a reply straight away a statute barred letter and today i got a reply saying they took a court order out on me in 2014 and doesn't count as statute barred. the original debt was from 3 phone company that lowell took over. now i have bw legal chasing me for it on behalf of lowell. so far its been very polite messages but i know they wont stay that way. The debt is for £282 and they gave me 7 days to reply from today. can anyone help me should i start the 3 letter process at this point. Plus i have never signed anything or paid anything to this debt old debt has come back to me 20180410

Hi,
The 3 letters are only for Bank & credit cards ,so of no use in this case. If you used the services the honorable thing would be to pay it . If you cannot afford it, make an offer that you can afford .Personally I would never complete the income & expenditure form .
You could also require a true copy of the deed of assignment.
Tell them you require that all future correspondence must contain the name and signature of the man/woman who takes liability for its contents. There is no one called BW legal.
Alternatively you could await bailiff action ,but is it worth the hassel for £ 280 ?

i'm unemployed and don't get benefits and managing to live of £13 per week to myself so that is a large amount of money for me to lose for a phone 3 repaired 3 times and still didn't work. they refused to replace for a working phone so i cancelled contract

Ok,

Afraid its far too late to address the phone issue.

If you do not own your home ,Tell them you have no assets ,you are on benefits and are suffering hardship and you are not in a position to attempt to make any payment .If you do have anything a bailiff could levy ,get it into a relatives or someone you trust name ( this must be dated before any bailiff action) .If you have a vehicle leave well away from your home.
You may, due to your circumstances be better off filling in their expenditure form.
They are very unlikely to spend anything trying to get blood from a stone.

Sorry just noticed you are not on benefits ,in that case state you are suffering extreme hardship.
