Smart Meter Removal Empty Smart Meter Removal

Post by tiffy Thu Feb 10, 2022 4:15 pm

Hi, jus wondering if you can have the smart meter removed. i only had it put in as i'm not very well and i can top up online instead of having to go out to get gas. Had it installed in Jan and the box inside the house now doesn't work, i have called a few times and not one of them could understand what i was telling them, simply the box is not working and they haven't got a clue what to do. i now have to go outside and see how much gas i have so i may as well just hobble to the shop and get it.

The other thing is since i had it installed i'm paying £30pw gas when i was only paying £10pw without the damn box. is there anything i can say to get them to take it out? i know i can tell them i an charge them for having their property on my property but don't know how to o about it.
Thanks.

Smart Meter Removal Empty Re: Smart Meter Removal

Post by LionsShare Thu Feb 10, 2022 6:01 pm

Evening, TBH its not impossible to get it removed but will struggle as 1ce they are, they are in. However there is always.....

I have had a look around here, nothing as far I can see for removal:
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/smart-meters-how-they-work#consumer-protections

nor here:
https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/resources-and-tools/search-navigation-tools/Search/?c=HOME&q=smart+meter+removal&page=2
https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/energy/energy-supply/problems-with-your-energy-supply/if-youve-been-told-your-energy-supply-will-be-disconnected/

Here tends to be a waste of space, some times good so don't dismiss altogether:
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3846889/i-want-my-smart-meter-removing-who-do-i-speak-to

this may be of some help:
https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/experts/article-7860771/I-want-remove-smart-meter-told-charged-150-this.html

of course there is always the presumption - he who controls the meter controls the supply - have a think?

This may be of use;
https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/experts/article-5085737/Can-smart-meter-removed.html

According to the above you can tell them to remove it but there may be a
cost involved (although its unheard of)

If you get no joy ,get back to us ,we should be able to put a notice
together for you.

Post by LionsShare Fri Feb 11, 2022 11:28 am

others may be able to advise better, try this:

Dear Thee Ving B'stards,

Due to on going concerns about the way my meters are 'effectively' measuring consumption & requiring consumer satisfaction, being totally not happy with said meters, I now require the removal of both smart meters & being replaced with conventional credit meters. This is obviously of the utmost importance to my health & well being & requires an expedient resolution.

I look forward to your hurried response in resolving this matter.

Yours....

I know this is too simple.

Below is a paragraph from the linked Gov website

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/smart-meters-how-they-work

Health

There is no evidence that smart meters pose any risk to health. Public Health England (PHE), the agency tasked with protecting and improving the nation’s health and wellbeing, has found that exposure to radio waves produced by smart meters is likely to be much lower than that from other everyday devices such as mobile phones and wifi equipment.

Note they say there is no evidence of a risk They do not say there is evidence its safe.
Its their usual play on words.

Smart Meter Removal Empty Re: Smart Meter Removal

Post by assassin Sun Feb 13, 2022 3:11 am

You actually own the smart meter and here is the real issue, while you own it the Government have paid the installers to provide and fit it for you and the High Court says you own the meter but under your energy suppliers contractual conditions.

First you need to read the contract and understand it because they have fitted a meter and said you own it, but why??? because they need to create confusion and this creates conflict and this means cases end up in court, thy also wan't confusion so they don't accept liability for any costs, and you have all them but also in the contract is a condition which says you cannot remove it.

So 1 is to assume, by cancelling the contract the meter can be removed? So he who controls the meter controls the supply?

Smart Meter Removal Empty Re: Smart Meter Removal

Post by tiffy Mon Feb 14, 2022 1:39 pm

within 2 weeks i've had nothing but trouble with this. the inside the house box is not working, been on the phone several times with them saying they will fix it remotely-nothing done. then they said its something to do with the electric (i haven't got the smart meter on the electric) i've had to go outside to give them a reading off a white (twice) card left in the electric box they said it will work in 10 days? and today the gas supply is off. i can't use the outside box to put the supply back on as it needs a pin number which i haven't got! last thursday i put in £5.00 and it didn't register so on friday was the phone and they gave me £30 as a good will gesture, i had £35 in the meter on friday. today i have £7.50. ridiculous.
