In response to this in a letter to Lowell, they have replied: "we hold no details relating to this and you are therefore required to contact the original creditor for further information". Is it worth pursuing this with the bank? Thanks

Personally I would not go back to the OC .Lowell claim ownership of the debt & you require documentation that the debt has not been paid off via an insurance claim. All you asked for was a simple signed statement ,yes or no. they should have no difficulties providing one .The same applies for ALL that you have requested.

Why not also require a signed statement in writing that neither the OC or the DC will not claim it as a tax deducation if its not collected?

Another good point Ausk, The more reasonable valid questions asked the better, Should it end up in court ,part of any defence will be a list of valid requests they have refused to answer.
All that has ever been asked is to validate their claim.

Thanks for the replies. I'll get on with drafting another letter to the lowlifes!

Is this not something that Lowell should have done or be doing. It's called due diligence.

Exactly. Its the same as buying a decent vehicle without doing a HPI check.
