Universal Basic Income - for discussion Empty Universal Basic Income - for discussion

Is it time this country had a universal income so we could do away with the DWP as this is a monstrosity of an organisation which treats people with contempt and like something they stepped in, they lie and break all their own rules and the law, yet they get away with it most of the time as they are protected, well most of the time; 166 cases and 166 wins.

They squander more taxpayers money on frivolities and senseless schemes and their objective is control, total domination, and showing you that public servants, your and my servants can dictate to us and we can do nothing about it, so why a monolith? Because for every £1 they give out it costs them £1.50 to administer so every £1 in benefits is costing us £2.50, so why this is as this is way excessive and the role of the DWP seemingly is to deceive the people they work for and squander our money. To begin with the DWP has more benefits and more people to administer them so why not rationalise these benefits, and why are pensions classed as benefits when they are an inalienable right into which someone has paid all their working life and not had the choice not to, because ultimately they will means test it and limit peoples incomes.

Currently the national minimum wage is £11.44 and if this is multiplied by 40 hours this equals £457.60 per week and the Government say this is the minimum you must have, so why are many pensioners on much less? If this is the minimum then why isn’t everyone getting it? Because a few people get very rich off the people. Let’s put this into some form of context, if everyone has a cestue que vie trust which pays for everything in life then why are people paying taxes to sustain the NHS as it is already paid for, or is it a case of charge us twice, or double dipping and let a few keep a lot while we pay again for something which is paid for, so just another huge scam.

The last full year saw the UK pay out £265.5bn in benefits alone and it cost another £398.25bn just to administer it so essentially the taxpayer paid out £663.75bn in benefits, so why does it cost so much to administer? Because staff don’t really work as they spend a lot of their days talking and socialising instead of working. They have huge infrastructures meaning they used to own lots of buildings and they sold most of them off to private individuals and they lease or rent them back so if the public owned then they have sold our property without our consent which is both theft and fraud, criminal offences. They have accounts with private companies to run their postal centres and their mail goes to a few centres around the country which manage it and turn them into electronic documents and E-mail them to the correct people, and it all adds up.

If everyone over the age of 18 or 21 had a universal basic income of £457.60 per week this would make a couple £915.20 and they could live comfortably on this and they wouldn’t need benefits such as PIP or universal credit or various child benefits or their rent and council tax paid for them and this has immediate benefits as councils wouldn’t be paying out either saving them a lot of money and best of all we could get rid of the massively expensive bureaucracy and this would save a fortune as there would be no pensions to be paid either. Research shows around 95% of DWP staff could go and this would save a fortune as an AVERAGE taxpayer in the UK pays around £6600 in tax per annum and one third goes to pay benefits so let’s do some maths, £6600 divided by 3 = £2200 and if this is the cost of benefits we can work out it costs the same average taxpayer £1320 to pay out £880 in benefits.
If the Government say the minimum wage is £456.60 per week this equates to £23,795.50 per person, per year and the first question is why many pensioners are on as little as £8000 per year? This is because they have their benefits capped at a certain level and they cannot exceed this level and if they do the DWP cut their benefits back to the capped level.

How would basic universal income work? Quite easily and much cheaper as everyone over the qualifying age gets the basic level of Universal Income of £457.60 and there would be no unemployment benefits, child benefits, or pensions; and the only benefit on top of this would be disability benefits which would also be simplified. Stark realities are that disabled people need more and this may be more heating to keep their homes warm, taxis because them may not be able to drive, or just some adaptations to their homes and the benefits level would be an upper and lower level and I would have a third level for those needing assistance, but not qualifying for disability. I would remove the term “benefit” as it wouldn’t be a benefit and only full British citizens would be eligible for it and not foreign illegal immigrants who are currently invading our country for their financial benefit, and to our financial detriment.
If people choose to work it is solely their choice and anything they earn over the Universal Basic Income would be taxed, so basically your tax allowance and irrespective nobody is without an income at a level they can live on and we could dispense with most DWP staff and most DWP sites and save lots of money there. There would be little fraud because there is little to defraud and most of these private investigators could be dispensed with and really the only overpayments would be after someone has died and the time between death and notifying the DWP.

You want to work then fine; you are only taxed on what you earn over the Universal Basic Income and the tax system could be simplified and their excessive salaries and benefits they receive could also be cut and again yet another saving to the taxpayers. Traditional part time jobs may become attractive to those currently unemployed as many are forced into low paid jobs and further into debt as they cannot afford to go to work and pay money out they don’t have, and reclaim it; women wouldn’t be forced out to work and the generation of scum and pond life could have parental discipline instead of being latch key children getting themselves into trouble. Shopping streets would reappear as shops survive on customers and customers with disposable income and if people have money to spend in shops then more shopkeepers appear to service that need and these shops need premises and pay business rates and they employ people who also pay tax and National Insurance. People who want professions can go into those professions and study full time without having to bother about money and focus on their studies instead of worrying where there money is coming from.

Why won’t Governments do this? Because they are so disjointed and intertwined that in the confusion we get the few on very highly paid salaries and gold plated pensions and they are on, and want to remain on the taxpayer funded gravy train and consolidate their positions be allegedly being indispensable and making people believe if they leave nothing will operate without them; I worked in a declining industry and many men said “if I leave the place will go to pot and fail” and NONE of them failed as one man leaving does not close a company. In reality they thrive and survive on confusion and this enhances their excessive salaries so they have no vested interest in sorting anything out.

If a man goes to work and earns around £50,000 per annum and his Universal Basic Income is £23,785.50 then he alone has nearly £74,000 coming in and if his wife works and earns another £30,000 and has her Universal Basic Income of £23.795.50 she has another £54,000 coming in which is nearly £128,000 and they should survive on this. If they ae both off work and let’s assume a vehicle accident in which they are both injured they still receive £47,591.20 instead of claiming sick pay and other benefits as their Universal Basic Income is sufficient to live on.

Let’s do some maths, if the UK pays out £265.5bn in benefits alone and it cost another £398.25bn to administer it we would be saving £663.75 bn in benefits alone and with a simplified tax system we would save even more money and councils wouldn’t be paying out either and it would come at the back end with more people employed, many in now attractive part time jobs which they can do without falling into the financial trap.
