Its a good idea in my opinion , in the age of police auditors this would certainly shine a light on them. It may be enough to start the ball rolling for change in the way they select the narcissists and cover up wrong doing . These types of personality disorder should be avoided for our civil servants and screening applicants for traits would be fairly effective . Lets not forget that sexual predators are also drawn to these sorts of positions in soceity , teachers and social/care workers too and they all need scrutiny and checks, perhaps it would be a great idea for civil servants and any job to do with any kind of vulnerable people.

Introduction

Narcissism, the term in and of itself tends to suggest someone who has an “ugly” personality, someone who should be and is often avoided, someone who cares for only their self.  This mental picture is accurate as narcissism is repeatedly described as extreme love of one’s self to the point of lacking empathy for others, equated with egoism, and can develop into a medically defined personality disorder requiring treatment (Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research, 2017; Mosquera & Knipe, 2015; Narcissism, 2017).  However, within the confines of this document, the term narcissism is being employed in a nonclinical sense to describe the actions and apparent personality of individuals who tend to hunger for attention and power or authority without regard for the welfare and well-being of others.

Extreme narcissistic individuals do not hesitate to belittle, shame, or embarrass others to make themselves feel and hopefully appear to be better, more intelligent, and or more powerful (Mosquera & Knipe, 2015; Rosenthal & Pittinsky, 2006).  Extreme narcissistic behavior in conjunction with the tendency of having little to no empathy toward others is viewed as detrimental as well as dangerous, particularly within the field of law enforcement.  Extreme narcissistic behaviors of this type left unchecked may eventually become the gateway to Officer Precipitated Departmental Conflict (OPDC).

I think the above quote applies to the majority of them, I believe that most of them have this trait before joining & their training and association with like minded individuals results in what we have today.
From what i see , very few act as peace keepers or interact with the public ,treating them as equals. 'Bow to my authority & do what i say ' is the prevailing attitude. This is by no means
limited to Britain ,in fact the same type are recruited in most countries.
With the stirring of the masses who are at last beginning to awaken, these narcissists may well find they are on the wrong side of history .

The only thing we the people said do is scrap the lot both Houses P - Lords, Police , Feudal Lords, etc etc, an start again, without all this BS as clearly it does not work, an we would end up with same thing again,

Dave, Its a spectrum and people already on it are attracted to positions of authority , then the postilion and culture of the institution creates and enables more NPD actors even from those that are not full blown narcissists , through learning from their colleagues .
