more stupid acts
A freind of mine,s son flys radio controlled model aeroplanes and tells me next year that anyone who who has a rc model plane will have to REGISTER it on a goverment website and display a number on the side of the model or face aFINE of up to £1000,this to my mind is completely crazy does any of you more knowlageable members on here know about this or how would one avoid this nonsence or just ignore them altogether like tv licence, how are they going to know who has one im guessing al the model shops will have to take your details and pass you details to the peado gang in westminster when buying a new model, he also tells me that the same thing is happening with rc model drones apparently a online petition is being signd to stop the act from being brought forward, this country is ++++++

Re: more stupid acts
Not heard that one, and I only have model boats and tanks.
From what I remember a lot of it is common sense and it is defined by weight, anything inder 7Kg has virtually no restrictions other than not flying it in controlled airspace such as near an approach to an airport and not flying it within 50 metres of people and structures, and only flying safely and not causing a nuisance.
7-20Kg differ in that they cannot be flown in controlled airspace or above 400 feet, you have to have continual line of sight of them, if they have a failsafe system it must be operational, and you cannot fly it within 150 metres of spectators.
You cannot drop anything from them such as dummy bombs or other devices and it is up to the pilot to use his/her common sense to protect people and property, respect peoples privacy, and not cause a nuisance.
You can actually fly in controlled airspace with the consent of the air traffic controller and near airports this can be very dodgy as aircraft can have their approach changed to land from the other end of the runway which is why you are unlikely to get permission from an ATC at a commercial airport, but at airodromes used for pleasure flights you may easily get it.
Drones do have to be registered if they are "for gain" and I would suggest it is this they are trying for, to get all commercial and pleasure drones registered.
