Re: Jury Duty
Perhaps a better question might be ,
"Is it possible to turn this situation to my advantage. ? "

Re: Jury Duty
A friend of mine said there was no way he would find anyone guilty of an offence no matter how much the evidence was stacked up against them and that just for the fact of them pleading not guilty was enough for him to have reasonable doubt to acquit them. I'm not a 100% sure but I think they sent him home. I've never been asked to do it or I would do the same thing. I would never have it on my head that I could be responsible for someone losing their liberty.

Re: Jury Duty
Yes, I will accept your kind offer, but you also agree that by my attendance you agree to pay my fees of £********* per hour or part hour, my travelling time at £***** per hour or part hour, a subsistence allowance of £**** per day, my parking charges of £**** per day.
They sent me an offer once, I sent a conditional acceptance with my terms and conditions and fees, they decided they didn't want me.

Re: Jury Duty
Is it simply enough by NOT being on the electoral role to avoid jury duty?

I think that's the main reason why I have never been asked.

Re: Jury Duty
I was asked to do jury duty many years ago. I told them how far I lived from the court (it was a 1.5 hour journey each way during rush hour), that I was self employed and worked from home and that I was a single parent with young kids and had to do the school runs. In the end they excluded me from jury service. Hope this helps.

Re: Jury Duty
I was given jury service many years ago but had been ill prior to this & told them I could not face such an ordeal (or words to that effect), they wrote back & told me I didn't have to attend, so no it is not absolute that you have to attend going what others have said too.
Remove your name from the electoral role to avoid any future 'requests' for you to do jury service.
